Thursday 20th February 2014 Dear Parents, Guardians and Children, The rain we have been praying for has finally arrived! The children have spent a few lunchtimes in the classroom and have been extremely well-behaved considering the conditions. Crocs and Thongs At assembly yesterday I told the children that in very wet weather conditions the children can bring crocs or thongs to school. However the children are to wear their school shoes to school and then have the thongs or crocs in their bags. If they ride or walk, then their school shoes should be in their bag. I am sure, as responsible parents you can make the appropriate decision for your children. Parent Information Night Thank you to all the parents who were able to attend the Parent Information Night on Tuesday night. I know the weather made it difficult for some to attend. If you were unable to attend please make contact with the classroom teacher for the information shared. Parents and Friends Meeting After the Parent Information Night a successful P & F Meeting was held in the staffroom with many things discussed.  Brad Sandilands gave an update on the playground.  Arlene and Melissa discussed the Entertainment Book  Goals for 2014 The next P&F Meeting is the 18th March. Please add this to the calendar. Thank you to the Kennedy’s The P&F would like to thank the Kennedy family for the kind donation of all the food for last years Christmas Concert. This was a kind donation and we are very thankful for your generosity! Volunteer Induction Tomorrow at 8:30am I will be running the final Volunteer Induction for Term One. Please sign in at the Office and then make your way to the Art Room. Thank you for you generous donation of time.

Playgroup A couple of our dedicated parents are interested in continuing the Little Joeys Playgroup. If you are interested in coming along they will be meeting at 8:30am Tuesday 4th March in space beside the playground. All you need to bring is some morning tea and a hat. Date Changes After setting the calendar at the end of last year there has had to be some changes. St Patrick’s Meet and Greet will now be on Thursday 13th March. The other change of dates is the Opening Mass, as the Interschool Swimming Carnival now falls on the 19th March. So the Opening Mass and Leadership badge ceremony will now be Thursday 20th March. Please make the changes in your calendar. When is the last time you checked your child’s KIK account or Instagram? I have been made aware by a couple of parents that there has been some unsocial behaviour on Instagram and KIK. Please ensure that you have your child’s passwords and have the ability to check their accounts. If you notice inappropriate behaviours take a screen shot and save it. These Apps can be a great way for children to connect when they are used in a supervised situation. Sacramental Program - Parent Session This coming week we have the Parent Sessions for the Sacramental Program. All parents need to attend one of the following sessions as it is a condition of their enrolment: Monday 24th February 6.00pm Tuesday 25th February 9.00am and 3.30pm Wednesday 26th February 6.00pm Thursday 27th February 9.00am and 2.00pm Baby News If you have not heard already, Andrew and Amy Bent welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world on Friday 14th February. They named her Imogen Grace and as you can see she is absolutely gorgeous! Congratulations Andrew and Amy, we can’t wait to squeeze those cheeks!

Late Drop Off or Early Pick Up Can I please remind parents that if your child arrives late to school or needs to leave early they need to be signed in or out at the office by an adult. This information is crucial for emergencies as well as reporting. PeaceBuilder Principle for this Week The PeaceBuilder Principle for the week is ‘Seek A Wise Person’. Year 6K presented an assembly about times when you might need to ‘Seek A Wise Person’ and who might be a suitable person. A wise person does not always need to be an adult, it can be a peer, maybe even someone who is younger. Jacqui Gardner - Acting Principal [email protected] Love God Love One Another
