Year 6 children have completed their SATs tests this week with remarkable calmness and positivity, despite those ‘warthogs milling in bewilderment’ in a very difficult reading test!! Thank you staff and parents for ensuring that the children have been well supported to do their best and to approach them with such a good attitude. Mr Jez Smith delayed starting his new job until the SATs were over, which I am extremely grateful for. He leaves us next week to take up the position of specialist Literacy teacher in the LEAD academy chain. He will be greatly missed at Dovelands and I would like to thank him for all he has done for the children and the school in his time here. Good luck Mr Smith! Happy Feet ‘Happy Feet’ is a UNICEF initiative that the school will be participating in on 20th May. We are asking everyone to attend school on that day wearing shoes of their choice. These shoes must be sensible and safe (no high heels, open toed sandals or heelys please). In return, we are asking that you donate a pair of unwanted shoes that can be re-used in rural Africa The shoes need to be clean, paired and tied together. They can be any size and for any age. Please bring the shoes with you to assembly on Friday 20th May, where the UNICEF Ambassadors will be waiting to collect them. Thank you for your support .

Mobile Phones
In preparation for uniform shopping in time for the Autumn term, please take the time to read through our School Uniform Policy.
We have recently received information that parents have been seen driving outside of the school whilst using their mobile phones. May we remind you that it is an offence to drive whilst using a mobile phone and it is particularly dangerous outside of the school where the behaviour of young children can occasionally be unpredictable.
For girls:
red top, jumper, cardigan or sweatshirt
White shirt or red or white polo shirt
Plain black or grey shorts, trousers, skirt or pinafore
Plain tights (red, black or grey)
Dark coloured closed toe shoes (no trainers, open toes or slingbacks)
Nut Free Policy
A red and white gingham dress may be worn in the summer months.
Unfortunately we are again receiving reports that children are bringing packed lunches containing nut products into school. May we remind you that many cereal bars, some chocolate bars, Nutella spread and peanut butter contain nuts and could cause an anaphylactic reaction in a child with a nut allergy. Thank you for your assistance with this matter.
For boys:

May we also take this opportunity to remind parents and carers that we do not allow children to bring mobile phones in to school. Thank you.
Children should have a change of clothing for PE lessons consisting of a t-shirt and shorts with plimsolls or bare feet for indoors, and warm top with jogging bottoms and trainers for outdoors. Children who take part in after school sports activities must come to school in their school uniform and bring a change of clothes to change in to after school.
Class Photographs Photographers will be coming to school on the 18th of May to take whole class photographs. If you do not give permission for your child’s photograph to be taken and you have not already informed us, then please contact the office.
Dovelands Summer Fair Saturday 11th June 1pm-3.30pm The countdown to the Dovelands Summer Fair is on and we’re looking for help with the following
A local business to sponsor the raffle tickets (deadline for sponsorship 20th May).
Fantastic prizes for the raffle. Previous prizes have included meals for 4, cinema tickets, electrical goods, family day outs and a bike. Volunteers for the day are still required so please get in touch if you are able to help in any way. Thank you for your support and we look forward to another fantastic event! Page 2 of 2
