John 6:28-29, “Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.” Central Baptist Church will make every attempt to persuade all of mankind—locally and abroad—to believe in Jesus Christ for their salvation! This is the work of the church! This is the purpose of the Christian walk! This is the reason for the Christmas season we are celebrating! While many ministries fall into a trap of making ministry convenient, fun and wholesome for the family, Central realizes we are in a battle to persuade all of mankind to believe. The work of God is not buildings and budgets—it is believing. The work of God is not research and polls—it is believing. The work of God is not casual and careless—it is a call for a life of commitment to the One who committed His life for us! In these last days—perilous days—we encourage every believer to press on in the work of God. Allowing Him to use you for His glory!

The Good News

Pressing On

God so loved the world that He gave.

The Upward Way

God loves you. “For God so loved the world…” God loves the world, and that includes you! What’s amazing is that God loves each of us even while we are not very lovable. We have all broken one of God’s laws at least once. The Bible calls our evil deeds sin, and even one sin is serious enough that a just God cannot over look it. (Romans 3:23;

As we enter another year of opportunity and ministry Pastor Barton is leading us to “Press On” in three areas of our lives:

James 2:10; I John 3:4)

Determine in your will to be steadfast, un-moveable, and abounding in the work of the Lord. This will be evident in our LifeStage Bible Classes in January as we begin a four-week campaign that demonstrates our faithfulness to the study of God’s Word and the watch-care of His sheep.

God makes you an offer. “…that whosoever believeth on Him…” The only condition to having God’s forgiveness is to believe that Jesus died and rose again for your sin. No other person or good deed can give you that forgiveness. If you repent from your sin and place your complete trust in Jesus alone, then you will have the gift of eternal life.

Resolve to show your Christianity in an outward work. Get involved in a ministry area of your church in some capacity and stay faithful to it all year long.

God makes you a promise. “...should not perish but have everlasting life.” Every person who trusts in Jesus alone will escape eternal death and instead enjoy everlasting life with Him in Heaven. This promise is yours the moment you believe Jesus will save you. (John 5:24; I John 5:12-13)

Our Inward Will Our Outward Work Our Upward Way

God gave you a gift. “...that He gave His only begotten Son…” Seeing our sin, God chose to give His own Son Jesus Christ to help us escape its terrible penalty. Jesus lived a perfect life on Earth and died a brutal death on the cross—not because He was evil, but because we are. When He rose from the dead three days later, Jesus proved that He has the power not only to forgive sins, but to give you eternal life. (Romans 6:23; Acts 3:26)

(Romans 10:9; Ephesians 2:8-9)
