4-H School Programs help teachers meet NYS Common Core Learning Standards  All programs consist of a full hour of immersion in a specific subject in an age appropriate format.  Information is presented in multiple forms including: o Interactive large group discussion o Individual and small group activities o Hands on experience o Visually, orally and quantitatively  Program extensions are supplied for follow up in the classroom.  Presentations are designed to be fun, engaging, and to allow children the opportunity for practical application of new information as well as many chances for incidental learning.  Current age appropriate technology is used for presentations.

Classroom Presentations A 4-H Educator will visit your classroom with a 1-hour lesson; and in most instances, a hands-on project.

A Tree Can Be… 3/1 – 4/29

Interactive group discussion on parts of the tree, importance of trees and uses. Look at seeds, and learn how to tell how old a tree is. Get a tree to plant at your school or in your community.

Walk the bluebird trail at the 4-H Training Center, watch a Bluebird Basics movie, and build a bluebird house to keep. Three (3) nest boxes included with the program. This program provides an opportunity for students to experience the incubation, development, hatching and brooding of chicks. Animals, Food, and Agricultural Life Field Day Tues., May 17 10:30 am – 12:45 pm

In an outdoor classroom, children get a close up look at animals, food and daily agricultural life. Experts present live animals, fibers and other aspects of agricultural life. Sheep, bees, horses, maple and more…

Booking of programs are on a first come first serve basis.

Register early to insure that you will get the programs that you want. If you have selected a time that is already filled, we will try to give you a comparable option on your confirmation sheet.

These programs are offered to elementary school age children in Saratoga County.

Funding provided in part by the Office of Children and Family Services and the Saratoga County Youth Bureau

 Pool with as many teachers as possible when sending in your requests.  One teacher or aide should be the contact person for scheduling.  Please provide e-mail address to be used for most correspondence.  To be in the right place at the right time, we need the names of the teachers that will be receiving the programming.  Schedule programs in such a way that we are presenting the same program to multiple classes in your school in one trip.  Please locate multiple programs in one common room or allow 15 minutes between programs for presenter to move.  Program fee must be paid in cash or check (payable to: CCE of Saratoga) prior to the program, or given to the educator at the time of the program. Most classroom programs will take roughly one hour. Teachers are asked to remain with their students during program.
