The Saint Francis University Men’s Soccer Coaches along with the SFU Men’s Soccer Team are pleased to be hosting the 14th Annual Mountain Classic Indoor Soccer Tournament February 4th, 2017. Held on the beautiful Saint Francis University Campus in Loretto, PA the tournament will attract teams in 5 age groups. The U8, U10, U12, and U14 divisions will play a 5v5 tournament format and the U18 division will play a 6v6 tournament format; all on a touchline surface. Each division will take place at one location respectively with up to 3 fields. There is no guarantee there will be any future college players competing in the 5v5 and 6v6 games, but our goal is to provide the participants with a grassroots soccer approach to player development that will carry these players to the next level. The highlights of the weekend will include increased playing minutes with a guarantee of three matches for all teams, large playing surfaces with the technical skill development from indoor touchline soccer, modified rules to emphasize skills and maximize player participation, and half day schedules for respective age groups to reduce player burnout and decrease time between matches. The tournament will also feature the participation of Division I College Coaches and Players who will act as role models and referees. We believe you will find the Mountain Classic Weekend to be a memorable experience and we look forward to having your team join us in the year 2016.
