2018 FAIRPORT LITTLE LEAGUE 12U BASEBALL ALL STARS OPPORTUNITY OVERVIEW There are several All Star teams with varying levels of competition, time commitment and age restrictions. The most competitive and time intensive are the State teams. The 11-12-year-old State Team are the one you ultimately see on ESPN at the Little League World Series. The 10-11 and 9-10 teams don’t go to the World Series, but they do compete for regional championships. It is a tremendous honor to represent Fairport in these tournaments and we as a league want to be transparent in our process to reward the strongest and most dedicated players and coaches with the opportunity to play in or manage these games. The chance to play on an All Star team versus our neighbors is such a great opportunity, Monroe County Little Leagues also hold a Local Tournament to provide that chance to a greater number of players. The table below shows the various tournament opportunities for 7 to 12-year-olds in the summer of 2018 for Fairport Little League.

Managers select the last 4 players on each team from list of nominated players that received a vote from a coach or manager on at least two teams (Cardinal) or three teams (Bronco), pending Approval of 12U Director as well as the responsible league (12U-Bronco Director & 10U-Cardinal Director).   

In the case of less than 13 players receiving votes from multiple teams, all players that received votes are eligible to be selected. 12U director and league director reserve the right to limit potential candidates by total votes in the above event In the case of overlap in board positions (I.e. 12U director is also a league director, immediate past 12U director replaces the current 12U Director in the process).

For the 10-11-year-old team, 11-year-old Bronco players not placed on the 11-12-year-old are selected utilizing the same process as above. TOURNAMENT COMMITMENT As soon as teams are announced on June 1, they are eligible to begin practicing. Coaching staff and players can expect to attend 1 or 2 practices per week in addition to the ongoing house team schedule. After championship night, teams should expect to practice 4 or 5 days per week until the tournaments begin. Our local District Tournaments usually start around July 4. If a team continues to win their tournaments, they progress through Districts, Sectionals, States, Regionals, and the World Series (11-12-year-old team only). Between tournaments, practices will continue. Please note that Districts are local to Monroe County, but all other rounds require travel and, likely hotel stays for multiple-day tournaments. Committing to an All Star team is a significant commitment for both the player and family. Please be sure you can potentially commit a significant portion of your summer break to playing these tournaments. At the very least, you can expect to have nearly daily baseball-related activates through Mid-July. There are extra fees for participating in the tournament. Fees cover a special All Star uniform, practice and game balls and tournament fees. Some teams may choose to purchase matching pants, team jackets, bags, etc., but that is done on a team-by-team-basis. Outside of those potential extras, you can expect costs of more than $100 to participate on the state All Star Team. LOCAL ALL STAR TEAMS

The Local tournament is competitive and a lot of fun, but a lower level of intensity and commitment. Traditionally Fairport Little League will form several teams in each age bracket based on player interested and availability of coaching staffs. Those players and coaches not named to be a state team, and indicated interest in Local Tournament play will be contacted in June to verify interest in playing on a team.
