24th April 2015 Dear Parents and Carers, Thanks you to the Year 3 parents for the fantastic support shown this morning with the camp fire. The children were really well behaved and loved the sausages! Madagascar class children are very excited about their tadpoles, please feel free to come in and have a look. The Student Council have asked to widen the healthy snack choices. We have agreed to trial their suggestions of plain/fruit flavoured rice cakes, plain biscuits (rich tea or plain digestives) and breadsticks. Year 6 are busy preparing for SATS week (11th to 15th May). For your information subjects will be as follows: Monday – Reading Tuesday – Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling Wednesday and Thursday – Maths Regards Mrs T Davis Acting Head teacher Great Doddington Primary School School News Sports Day This year our Sports Day will be on Friday 26th June. Sports Reports Boys Football tournament v Warwick , Yr 5 / 6 Match Report A fabulous afternoon of football took place on Thursday at Warwick school as we took 2 teams of 6 boys to play what we hope will be the first of many friendly fixtures. Both teams played 3 games each. All the boys really got stuck in and played with skill, confidence and enjoyment. Both teams won 1 and drew 2. Doddington B team won the tournament on goal difference with the A team coming a very close second. It was a pleasure to take this group of boys. I was very proud of how they played and behaved, a real credit to our school. Thank you as always to the army of supporters that came to cheer us on. It was a great atmosphere and your support is invaluable. J Chapman
Staff Netball Tournament Great fun at the Northamptonshire workplace challenge netball festival. Lots of enthusiasm from our team, very little netball playing ability!!! We started well, narrowly losing the first game 2-1, and we were naively optimistic going into the next match. However, although our playing got better, our remaining 3 games were up against very experienced netball teams, with players playing at both county and regional level - not quite the "no experience necessary" netball tournament we thought we had entered!!! In the end, the only thing we actually won was the toss (twice!) to determine which end we would shoot in first. However, as I'm always telling the children, it's not all about the winning it’s the taking part that counts, and by the end of the night we'd all got a little bit fitter, a few knocks and bruises but plenty of laughs with a great bunch of team mates. Great Doddington staff netball team- you are all superstars! Attendance In line with Government policy we are legally required to contact families with children whose attendance falls below 95%. We appreciate that this may be due to illness or other circumstances however we will still write to you to make you aware of attendance levels if we have not already discussed this with you.
