28 January 2015 Dear Parents and Carers, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child into Year 9 at St Andrew’s Catholic College. My name is David Christopher and I am the Year 9 Pastoral Care Coordinator for 2015. I am looking forward to an exciting year and building positive relationships with the students. This year, we have six homeforms with the following teachers looking after them, 9-1 Mr Craig Carpenter, 9-2 Miss Adrienne Hill, 9-3 Mr Craig Thistlethwaite, 9-4 Miss Brooke Crippin, 9-5 Miss Anna McKellar and 9-6 Miss Romy Fritz. Each of these people can be contacted via e -mail with
[email protected]. The main role of the Pastoral Care Coordinator is to promote and foster an atmosphere of care and concern within the College. I will be primarily responsible for working with students in the six Year 9 homeform classes. If any students, parents or teachers have concerns, they may voice these concerns to me. I will endeavor to keep in contact with all parents throughout the year regarding their child’s progress. I believe it is vital to have regular communication between students, teachers and parents and I will facilitate this communication process. Year Coordinator Blogs can be accessed via the school website for additional updates and information concerning the year level http://www2.standrewscc.qld.edu.au/news_and_events/year-levels/year-9.php. At St Andrew’s Catholic College we have an open door policy and you are very welcome to make an appointment to speak to your child’s homeform teacher, subject teacher or myself if you or your child has any concerns. The homeform teacher is the first person to contact, either by a note in the diary or by phoning the College office. If you have any general concerns you are more than welcome to contact me. My e-mail address is
[email protected]. I will attempt to join the homeform teacher during appointments so we are both aware of your child’s progress. On Tuesday 3 February, we will be holding a ‘Meet and Greet’ evening for Middle Years, from 6.00 pm in ‘O’ Block. This evening is scheduled so that parents and teachers have the opportunity to meet each other. As Pastoral Care Coordinator, I would also like to outline our expectations for the year and how teachers, parents and students can all work together so the students are able to make the most of their schooling at St Andrew’s. The St Andrew’s policy regarding uniform and behaviour is in the College diary. This will highlight the expectations of St Andrew’s Catholic College regarding uniform and behavior. Your support regarding these issues would be much appreciated. I look forward to working with Year 9 students and families and am confident that by regular communication and working together we will have a productive and enjoyable year. Kind regards,
David Christopher Year 9 Coordinator
