2 May 2017 Dear Parents The Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC) is an internationally recognised competition sponsored by the Commonwealth Bank. The focus of this competition is to provide engaging problem solving challenges for mathematically able students. The Lakes College will be offering this program for students from Years 4 – 12. The AMC consists of five separate papers applied across five divisions: Middle Primary (Year 4), Upper Primary (Years 5 and 6), Junior (Years 7 and 8), Intermediate (Years 9 and 10) and Senior (Years 11 and 12). Each division’s paper has 30 questions, with 60 minutes allowed for the Primary papers and 75 minutes for the Secondary papers. Students are acknowledged for their participation in this competition and around 50% of participants qualify to receive a Certificate of High Distinction, Distinction or Credit. All students are also provided with a detailed report showing how they performed on each problem, with wider statistical rankings.
