“The only way to do great work is to love what
you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.” – Steve Jobs
As a 4H group that grew up with Kaitlynn and rode with her during lessons, horse shows, and other fun events, we wanted to help raise money for her and her mom during a hard time in their life. Donations will be used for school loans, helping keep her horse happy and healthy, and anything else they could possibly need. They both lost someone very dear to them in a tragic, unexpected accident and we all want to help support them during this time. Even the smallest donation would mean to the world to everyone that knows KP and her family. Our goal is to help them and make them smile. Trade Show

4-H Expert Series Posted by Jennifer Sirangelo on www.4-h.org
Encouraging young people nationwide to reach their full potential is the number one priority for 4-H. It is critical that today’s youth are introduced to, and encouraged to pursue the career paths that they may be unaware of or feel are unattainable. Sparking interest in agriculture and science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) is even more important for young women and girls who remain under represented in ag and STEM careers. I had the pleasure to connect with U.S. Department of Agriculture Deputy Secretary Krysta Harden. As a visionary in agriculture, an advocate for women and girls, and proud 4-H alumna, she shared her thoughts on the importance of 4-H hands-on learning programs Empirefor State Development today, and provided insightSam on Filler, her vision the next generation of our nation’s leaders. As America's largest youth development organization, 4-H is focused on growing young innovators and preparing them for leadership roles in their careers. From someone who grew up in 4-H, how did your 4-H experience impact your life and career? Krysta Harden (KH): 4-H opened up many doors for me. Through my involvement in various 4-H competitions and camps, I was exposed to new experiences – and many life lessons that I have carried with me. In my professional career, I have seen the positive impact 4-H has on our youth and I truly believe that the organization is developing the next generation of young leaders. I make it a point during every trip I take as USDA’s Deputy Secretary to visit with these young leaders and let them know that we need their skills and talent in order to build a better future. Declining Student Resilience By Peter Gray on September 22, 2015 Freedom to Learn
“Don’t worry
about failures, worry
Diagnosable mental health problems are at an all-time high among college students, but, in addition, and in some ways even more disconcerting, there has been a sharp decline in students' abilities to deal with the bumps in the road of everyday life. These problems are making it hard for colleges to carry out their traditional academic mission. What can be done? Click here for complete article.

Local Government Intern Program The Local Government Intern Program (LGI) is off to a great start. The Youth Bureau has partnered with Cornell Cooperative Extension 4-H program to provide opportunities for Madison County students to understand the organizational structure of county government, the importance of civic engagement and the multitude of career opportunities available within the county. In the September sessions students were introduced to Madison County Government and the different townships within the county. Students learned what is means to be an active citizen, how to do a SWOT analysis of their community and doing a community assessment. Along with lectures students are able to tour the different county departments. In September, Mike Fitzgerald, Commissioner of the Department of Social Services (DSS) explained to the students the different functions of DSS. DSS offers 27 programs/services with a budget of nearly $31 million dollars. $17.8 million in local tax dollars. Some of the programs DSS offers was started in 1935 with the New Deal and FDR. These programs work to improve everyone’s life.
