Roster Minimum: Teams must have a minimum of four (4) players present at game time to avoid a forfeit. Teams may not register unless there are four (4) players on the IMLeagues roster at the time of payment. Roster Maximum: Teams may have an unlimited amount of players on a team. Game Day Maximum: Teams may “check in” or “dress” no more than twelve (12) players on their Game Day Roster for any specific Flag game.
CoRec Rosters: There may be no more than three (3) players who play as the same gender on the field/court at any time. Acceptable line-ups are outlined below. 3 Male / 2 Female

Players must check in before each contest with a valid AU ID. Picture must be clear and name match that on IMLeagues. NO AU ID = NO PLAY

Players must be on the printed game sheet for that game. Players must join the team on IMLeagues before the player addition deadline. There are no exceptions.
Equipment: -
Teams must wear like colors. If both teams are wearing the same colors, Intramural (IM) staff will provide pinnies. Shirts MUST be worn underneath pinnies. Jewelry is NOT permitted, including but not limited to necklaces, earrings, facial piercings, rings, bracelets, and watches. Failure to remove jewelry before game start will negatively affect your team’s sportsmanship rating and result in the player being removed from the game until they successfully remove all jewelry.

Exception: medical alert bracelets or necklaces may be worn, provided the player tapes the to the body with the information still accessible.
Referee’s Authority: The official has the authority to rule promptly, in the spirit of good sportsmanship, on any situation not specifically covered in the rules. There referee’s decision is final in all matters pertaining to the game. Rules: NIRSA Volleyball rules apply to all game. Rule highlights and adaptations will be listed below. Game Format: -

A game will be won once a team win’s two matches. A team may score a point regardless of which team had initially served (Rally Scoring). Matches 1 &2 will be first to 25, win by 2. There will be a point cap of 30 points meaning if the score is 29-29, the next team to score a point will win. If a 3rd Match is necessary it will be the first to 15 points, win by 2. There will be no point cap and the teams will not switch sides. The AWAY team will begin the match with first serve and be serving toward the mezzanine side of the court. (Teams will switch sides and service for each match)
Time Outs: Each team is entitled to 2 time-outs per game.
Rules of Play 1) The ball may not be hit more than 3 times by a team without going over the net. a. A block will not count towards one of the teams 3 hits. 2. CO-REC If the amount of hits required to get the ball over the net is greater than 1, then the ball must contact a player of each gender before crossing the net. 2) A player may not contact the ball more than once consecutively UNLESS the first attempt to contact the ball should be a block. 3) A ball that strikes any part of a boundary line is considered IN. 4) A ball that contacts the net but still goes over will be considered a live ball, this includes a serve. 5) Players may use any part of their body to play the ball. 6) A ball may only be hit. Catching, holding, throwing, carrying, lifting or pushing the ball will result in the point being awarded to the opposing team. 3. The official may decide if the ball does not visibly come to rest even if just momentarily on a player’s hands, fingers, or any other part of the body and award points accordingly. 7) If within a team’s allotted 3 hits the ball should strike the ceiling, and falls to the same side IT MAY STILL BE PLAYED. a. 7a) If there is a clear play on the ball and it happens to hit the basketball hoop(s) the ball will be replayed. 8) If the ball contacts a wall or curtain divider the ball will be OUT by the last player who had made contact. 9) A ball may only be played once it breaks the plane of the net - Reaching over the net is permitted during the follow through of a hit made on the players own side - Blocking a ball, which is entirely on the opponent’s side of the net, is permitted when the opposing team has had an opportunity to complete its attack.
10) Blocking or spiking a serve is NOT permitted. 11) While the ball is in play a player should not come in contact with any part of the net or its supports. Failure to do so will result in a point for the opposing team, unless the ball is the force makes the net come in contact with the player. 12) Players from the back-row may NOT - Participate in a block - Contact the ball in front of the attack line while the ball is above the height of the net. 13) CO-REC players in your service rotation must alternative between Male and Female. 14) The ball must be served within 5 seconds of the Up-Officials whistle to serve. Any ball served before the whistle will result in a re-serve. 15) The server’s feet must be behind or jump from behind the back line and in-between the two side lines during a serve or jump serve. 16) A player may not cross under the net onto the opponent’s side of the court. If the entire foot crosses the center line or the player disrupts the opponents play, the point will be awarded to the opposing team. 17) If a team has more than 6 players, they will be allowed to substitute in a rotation. A player must cycle through each spot in the rotation before they can be subbed out. a. There will be NO Libero position.
