A Call to Prayer Tom and Michele March 12, 2017
The Abduction Continues A Month has Passed On February 13, 2017, Rey was abducted. A month has passed. The following has happened: Family offers 100,000 RM for any news of Rey's whereabouts, but nothing happens. On March 5, a candlelight prayer is outside of police headquarters. This is the first time in many years that the Rey church has demonstrated solidarity in the context of its relationship to the majority peoples here. A suspect was arrested this week, but it does not seem that much information was gained. But the police could have gotten leads, we do not know.
So keep praying. I have attached links to his abduction, the prayer vigil and a statement by his wife. Prayer Vigil Kidnapping Footage Susanna's Interview "Timothy" baptized Reza was baptized a few weeks ago. He has requested the new name of Timothy. Pray that he will be a faithful follower. Like many of us he struggles to put others first, especially those close to him. He has added new commitments to study into his calendar since his baptism. Pray he will also study in the presence of someone who can interpret into Farsi.
Alfred and Tom are still in contact. Pray that we can get together soon. He has been in another state getting the help of a quack doctor to help with his mother's cancer. He is still very open and wants to meet up.
Daniel Daniel, our nephew, continues to serve in the Philippines until April 2. He is preaching today, and the photo shows him teaching in a Maranao Muslim area on Mindanao. A year ago, Tom began discipling Daniel regularly. He has really blossomed as a man of God. Daniel is Daniel in the Philippines teaching English at the Life Resources Foundation (our team's Bible school in Iligan), helping our church planting teams, and aiding our Perfectly Natural Herbs staff. Colin Carroll has done a great job mentoring him these last two months. Daniel is considering full time ministry for his future. Tom will visit him in the Philippines from March 24 April 2. Pray for this trip as Tom helps with all of the above ministries, as well as serve the elders of MMKI. Pray that Tom's time debriefing Daniel's trip before Daniel returns to the USA will be fruitful, and that Dan will sense the Lord's clear leading.
Prayer Requests Pray for our discipleship of Mike, Noras, Cathy, Stanley, Adam and family, Reza, Gideon, etc. Pray for their protection in light of Rey's kidnapping. The study with Rio and Yani is going really At a local wedding well. We studied Cain and Abel last week. When we came, Rio was so excited. He had made a podium for reading his Bible and read Matthew, Mark and Luke. He wants to teach (like Stanley) and looks forward to knowing who the coming Redeemer is. Pray for Jack and Daphne. They just held a church planting seminar on Borneo and are gaining contacts for planting churches in their state. PTL for many new contacts and opportunities. It is obvious that Satan knows that God is up to something. We have a few new studies, new contacts, new families attending English club and new invitations to do ministry. Pray for Alfred's salvation and healing for his mom of cancer. The home seminary is going well. Tom is teaching Romans and other NT letters in the next month. Pray for Michele as she continues to teach English, lead English club, and do speech therapy. PTL for three new families at English club. We have made progress with the visas needed for Filipinos to join us. By God's grace, they will arrive in June. We have an environmental team coming June to July 15. Pray for wisdom as we prepare for this research team. Pray for safety again for us and all whom we know. We have been told that we have "come out of the closet."
