8.1. Turn the seat bottom up and using the drill with #5 drill bit, drill THRU the seat at each of the 4 locations indicated in the photo at right. NOTE: Ensure that the thru holes are drilled ONLY through the positions indicated.
8.2. Using the drill with 1/8” bit, drill a center hole at each of 2 aft positions on the seat
8.3. Using the Phillips head screwdriver, insert a snap into each of the 2 holes drilled in the previous step.

8.4. Using the tape measure, measure inboard from the starboard edge of the bench. 8.4.1. Using the pencil, make a mark at 10 3/4” inboard from the starboard AFT edge of the bench.
8.5. Align the seat on the bench at the mark made in the previous step and approximately ½” forward of the aft edge of the bench. NOTE: The forward lip of the seat should align just forward of the edge of the bench.
8.6. Using the drill with #5 bit, make a mark on the bench through the holes in the seat bottom.

8.7. Remove the seat. 8.7.1.
Using the drill with the #5 bit, drill thru the bench at the marks made in the previous step. CAUTION: USE EXTREME CARE when drilling through the bench to avoid injury or damage to equipment. Remove the gas tank and avoid the harness which is secured to the underside of the bench.
8.8. Insert the hex head nuts into the seat bottom. 8.8.1.
Using the machine screws, flat washers and lock washers supplied, secure the seat to the bench.
8.9. Place the cushion onto the seat so that the two thin straps face forward and the wide strap is aft.

8.10. Secure the cushion to the seat by attaching the aft strap to the snaps installed in step 8.3.
8.11. Hold either of the forward straps against the front edge of the bench ensuring that the position of the snap is such that when installed the cushion will be taut and secure.
8.11.1. Using the pencil, make a mark on the front edge of the bench directly under the snap.
8.12. Using the drill with 1/8” bit, drill through the bench at the mark made in the previous step.

8.13.
Using the Phillips head screwdriver, insert a snap into the hole drilled in the previous step. NOTE: Repeat steps 8.11. thru 8.13. for the remaining forward strap.
8.14.
Attach front straps to the snaps installed in previous steps.
Helm Seat Installation Is Complete
NOTE: If desired, the helm seat can be installed on the companion side of the bench seat in either a forward or aft facing fashion by following the same procedure as explained above.
