All Souls Nursery Spring Term 2018
Happy New Year and welcome to the Spring Term! This term we will be focussing on Winter and Spring and the changes that take place in the world around us. Once Spring arrives we will be looking for signs of change and growth, planting our own seeds and looking at baby animals. In February we will be turning our home corner into a Chinese restaurant to celebrate Chinese New Year and thinking about other occasions and events the children celebrate. Our theme for this half term in R.E is Baptism. We will be visiting All Souls church in a couple of weeks to meet Father Michael and look at the font. It would be wonderful if the children could bring in any of their own Baptism photographs or items. In Maths we will be continuing to recognise numbers, correctly match quantities of objects to numerals and count out objects accurately to 5/10/20. We will also be learning about 2D shapes and doing activities on length. The children have a phonics session each morning. We will be continuing with listening and rhyming activities with a focus on hearing letter sounds at the beginnings of words and learning the sounds that different letters make. We have set up a sound table in Nursery - the children can add things to the table beginning with the letter sounds we are learning each week. Next Friday we will be starting our Nursery library. The children will be able to choose a book to take home and share with you and then bring back the following Friday. We are focussing on talking about story settings, characters and events and predicting what might happen at the end of the story. Below are a few dates that you might find useful: -
