MONTHLY NEWS & EVENTS AT NEW COMMUNITY CHURCH 2016 Men’s Retreat - “How Big Is Your God?” Bill Toole // Men’s Ministry
More than ever before, “the world” in which we live influences our thinking, our conscience and may even negatively impact how we apply God’s clearly communicated will for our lives. The world will attempt to dilute our fundamental Christian beliefs and corresponding way of life. Functioning on the basis of conformity, we are exposed to a constant media barrage driven by a drumbeat that thrives on making “right things wrong and wrong things right.” We must remain strong in meeting the challenge of the world’s system, and therefore we must consistently purpose to deepen our understanding of God and His well-defined position in our lives. We must be ever mindful and responsive to His presence, His love, His perfect justice and His perfect mercy and grace as He impacts our lives and works out His will for us while faced with the challenges of “the world”. Within this context, at the 2016 Men’s Retreat we will be made stronger by gaining a revitalized vision of God that will have a dramatic affect on every man in attendance. This year we are delighted to be under the teaching Dr. Michael Grisanti, Lead Professor of Old Testament Theology at The Master’s Seminary, who will unpack the question “How big is your God?” Dr. Grisanti will bring his passionate teaching of Old Testament scripture to bear on this topic, equipping us with practical theology along with a focus on our prayer life while promoting thanksgiving and praise as we confront worldly problems relative to God’s position in our lives. The Men’s Retreat, which will take place October 21-22, is the foundation of our Ministry where we are strengthened, encouraged and equipped by the Word and through the fellowship with our brothers in Christ. It is an extraordinary opportunity to enjoy the splendor of God’s creation in the setting of Trout Lodge near Potosi, MO. It is both uplifting and rewarding to join with one another in this venue and take a break from the distractions of “the world”. New friendships are established that last far beyond the Retreat itself and old friendships are rekindled. It is a time of fun and fellowship as well as a time of thoughtful reflection as we are fed the Word of God and spend time in its practical application. Please take time to reflect on what the Retreat can mean to you. Registration will begin on August 21 and close on September 18. If you plan to attend, please sign-up at your earliest possible convenience as room availability is on a first-come, first-serve basis. We look forward to seeing you there!

Visual Theology: Seeing and Understanding the Truth About God Tim Challies and Josh Byers
We live in a visual culture. Today, people increasingly rely upon visuals to help them understand new and difficult concepts. The rise and stunning popularity of the Internet infographic has given us a new way in which to convey data, concepts and ideas. As teachers and lovers of sound theology, Challies and Byers have a deep desire to convey the concepts and principles of systematic theology in a fresh, beautiful and informative way. In this book, they have made the deepest truths of the Bible accessible in a way that can be seen and understood by a visual generation.
