Baseball 2015 Summer Camps
5-Tool Baseball Camp is geared to serious-minded baseball players looking to improve upon their skills in all phases of the game. Camps are open to ball players ages 7 to 15 and are designed specifically to enhance performance in hitting, defense, pitching, baserunning, situational play and conditioning. 5-Tool has a proven track record in advancing its alumni to the next levels of the game.

Staff includes instructors with highly successful records in coaching and/or playing for teams at the collegiate and high school level. We maintain a 4 to 1 camper to staff ratio which ensures maximum participation by all campers.

Coach John McGowan Director of Instruction Coach McGowan is one of the most highly regarded and respected baseball instructors in the region. His passion for both the game and developing youth baseball players is unparalleled. McGowan has coached and instructed baseball players for over 20 years including head coaching at all levels to include youth, high school and college baseball.
Typical Day at 5-Tool Camp 9:00 a.m. Daily program warm-up (stretch, form run and footwork drills) 9:45 a.m. Instructional lecture (topic of the day) 10:30 a.m. Station work: - 4:00 p.m. Throwing and catching Hitting – live BP/bunting/tees soft toss/homerun derby Pitching – bullpens/mechanics/ pick-offs/holding runners
Infield defense – hand-eye drills/glove skills/fungo work/ double plays/catcher’s training/ cutoffs and relays/bunt cover
The grandson of a Hall of Famer, McGowan has successfully trained, developed and sent several of his players on to play collegiate and professional baseball.
Outfield defense – tracking fly balls/angles to the ball/diving techniques/sun and fence balls Scrimmaging – live situational play/1st and 3rd situations/signs Baserunning – leading/stealing/ read and reaction drills/sliding/ diving back/tagging up Conditioning and the mental side of the game 12:15 p.m. Lunch (concession stand open) - 1:00 p.m.
Coach Al Bidwick Camp Director Coach Bidwick has coached youth and high school baseball for over 15 years. His teams won 17 league championships and compiled a combined winning percentage of .860. He gives all credit to his players for that success. Every player that he has coached at the youth level has moved on to play competitive high school ball and several of his former players are currently playing at the collegiate or professional level. Bidwick has served as the Director of League Operations for the Montgomery County Baseball Association since 2003. The father of five, he stresses academics, fundamentals, sportsmanship, work ethic and playing the game the right way.
