DBS Form 1
Deridder Baseball and Softball, Inc. P.O. Box 821 Deridder, La 70634 NATIONAL YOUTH SPORTS SAFETY FOUNDATION, INC. PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT Children’s sports are supposed to be fun for the children. Unfortunately, many parents, fans, and coaches do not realize that their actions, whether verbal or nonverbal, can have a lasting emotional effect on children. Too many children are leaving sports activities because the fun is unfairly taken away by the adults. That is why Deridder Baseball and Softball, Inc is dedicated to helping reinforce what sports is all about; FUN.
1. I will remember that children participate to have fun and that the game is for the youth, not adults. 2. I will inform the coach of any physical disability, ailment, or medical condition that may hinder participation in league activities and affect the safety of my child or the safety of others.
3. I will learn the rules of the game and the policies of the league. 4. I (and my guests) will be a positive role model for my child and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy, and by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, officials, and spectators at every game, practice, or other sporting event.
5. I (and my guests) will not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, player, or parent such as booing and taunting; refusing to shake hands; or using profane language or gestures.
6. I will not encourage any behavior or practices that will endanger the health and well-being of the athletes.
7. I will teach my child to play by the rules, respect the coaches and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence. This should be interpreted that conflict resolution should be through the Deridder Baseball and Softball organization and not on public media such as Facebook, Twitter, internet messaging, text messaging, or any other means of public media.
8. I will never ridicule my child, another player, or coach and will show respect for coaches, other parents, officials, and players.
9. I will promote a drug and alcohol-free environment for all players. 10. I understand that once my child enters onto the field of play, I will refrain from coaching him or any other child, unless I am one of the official coaches. I also agree that if I fail to abide by the rules and regulations, I will be subject to disciplinary action that could include, but is not limited to the following: *Verbal warning by official, head coach, and/or league organization; *Written warning; *Parent removal from game; *Parental game suspension with written documentation of incidents kept on file by organization involved; *Game forfeit through the official or coach; *Parental season suspension; *Children who fight shall be suspended for 5 games; *Adults who fight shall be barred for no less than one year from the ballpark.
