Beachside Little League Spring 2017 Minor B Rules

Field Prep The home team is responsible for lining the field and setting up the pitching machine. The speed of the machine should be set between 35 – 40. Length of Game Each game will last 1 ½ hours. Substitutions/Defense Play Only one player per position; only 9 on the field at a time. You may freely substitute players AT ANY TIME as many times as needed when time is called. Each half inning will have a max of 4 runs or 3 outs. Last inning will bat entire lineup and last batter run the bases. BSLL highly encourages the use of a catcher. The catcher must be in full catcher’s gear as provided by BSLL. He/she will also be taught the proper catching position in the crouch; not kneeling, standing, or sitting. The “pitcher” position will be played outside of the dirt on the mound. A player may not go onto the mound during the game. If a ball hits the machine or cord, it is a base hit and the play is dead. At no time should a player be on the mound with the pitching machine and no one under the age of 16 is permitted to use the machine.

Base Running Players may advance 1 base at a time. If there is a hit the gets passed the outfielder, 2 bases can be awarded. The runner must stop when the defensive player touches the ball. (No stretching a single into a double). There is no leading off and no stealing. A runner may not advance on a passed ball. Last batter in the lineup goes around the bases. Batting All batters must wear a batting helmet. No other player besides the batter is to have a bat in his/her hands, this includes the “on-deck” batter. Coaching Coaches are permitted on the field with their team for on-field instruction and direction. When the team is up to bat, a manager/coach must remain in the dugout. Make-up Games If a game is canceled due to weather, games can be made up, schedule permitting but are not required. Both managers must agree to make the game up and must agree on day/time. Clean Up Every team is responsible for cleaning up their dugout and dugout area after the game. The managers are ultimately responsible to make sure that the field is cleaned up inclusive of any spectator areas. Parents can do their part by not leaving trash in and around the bleachers.
