SWA provided a master plan for the City of Beverly Hills to serve as a guideline to protect, conserve and enhance the existing physical qualities of the City’s landscape within the public realm. With a thorough understanding of the Green & Cook 1906 community plan and respect for the intrinsic physical qualities, the master plan promotes the elegance and urbanity of the City’s public streets, parks and private gardens. Techniques for improving street tree conditions, tree growth and replacement were reviewed and the City addressed streets lined with ash and elm trees, two species in rapid decline. Alternatives and proven new species with special characteristics, growth habit and aesthetics were considered and proposed to the community, street by street, with homeowners playing an active role in the tree selection process. The master plan serves as an important guideline, protecting the inherent property values of homeowners and businesses while establishing a more stable tree population. SWA Group: www.swagroup.com
