HUSKIES vs. RAIDERS Series Record: BU leads 101-67 Streak: BU W-3 PREVIOUS TEN GAMES: 11/22/14 H W 76-73 2/8/14 H W 78-53 12/7/13 A W 80-61 1/16/13 H L 79-58 2/8/12 H W 75-54 1/11/12 A W 67-66 2/9/11 A W 94-81 1/19/11 H L 74-72 2/17/10 H W 82-68 1/27/10 A W 59-44

It has been a turnaround season for the Raiders so far, as Shippensburg is in the thick of the PSAC East playoff picture just a season removed from a 3-23 campaign with a 1-15 mark in the conference. This year, the Raiders surpassed their 2013-14 win total before Thanksgiving and have won back-to-back games at Cheyney (89-82) and vs. Lock Haven (74-67) entering Saturday. Shippensburg has been a much better team at home, winning eight of its 10 games at Heiges Field House. The Raiders rank 12th in the PSAC in scoring offense at 71.3 points per game and seventh in scoring defense while allowing 68.6 ppg. Shippensburg shoots very well - at 47 percent from the floor, the Raiders are fifth in the conference. Dylan Edgar, who missed all of last year with injury, has been a big boost in the post as he averages 16.4 points (fifth in the PSAC) and leads the conference with 9.4 rebounds per game.

LAST MEETING / SERIES HISTORY Bloomsburg leads 101-67

Bloomsburg has the upper hand in the long-running series which dates back to the 1910-11 season when Shippensburg won the first-ever meeting, 33-9. Shippensburg swept the season series in 2012-13 after Bloomsburg won both games during the 2011-12 campaign. The Huskies continued the trend of alternating season sweeps by taking both games from the Raiders last year winning at Shippensburg, 80-61, in the first meeting on the road before capping the season sweep with a dominating 78-53 win at Nelson Field House on Feb. 8 behind 15 points, five rebounds and four assists from Charles Haigler. On the last meeting, Bloomsburg held on for a 76-73 victory. Bloomsburg took control with a 3010 run to end the first half. Shippensburg battled back, though, to a 71-70 score with 18 seconds to go. A jump ball was signaled and the possession arrow favored the Huskies. Shippensburg head coach Chris Fite was whistled for a technical foul arguing the call, leading to a pair of free throws from Riles. Bloomsburg retained possession, forcing Shippensburg to foul and send Christian Mortellite to the line and the redshirt freshman calmly sank both to make it a two-score game and all but put things out of reach with 14 seconds to go.

...BU player scored 30+ points?

Huskies senior Alssene Saintilus had a moment to remember during the win over Millersville on Jan. 21. Saintilus surpassed 1,000 career collegiate points on that day, reaching the milestone by sinking a free throw with 1:00 remaining before being swarmed by his teammates following the accomplishment. Saintilus scored 436 points over two seasons at Chestnut Hill College and then transferred to Bloomsburg prior to the 2013-14 season. The Williamstown, NJ native beat the odds after being cut from both Williamstown High’s freshman team in 2007 and again from the junior varsity in 2008. He persevered, however, making the varsity as a junior and quickly becoming an impact player.

...BU had five-double figure scorers?

Bloomsburg has two standout freshmen who have proven to be sharpshooters this season - true freshman Alex Prislupsky and redshirt freshman Christian Mortellite have both been outstanding long range shooters on the year. Prislupsky has hit 44.9 percent of his 3-point attempts, best on the team. Prislupsky is 31-of-69 on 3-point attempts this season, falling just short of qualifying among PSAC leaders. Among qualified players (2.0+ 3’s per game), only UPJ’s A.J. Leahey (52.6 percent) and Seton Hill’s Noah Davis (51.7 percent) would rank higher. Mortellite, meanwhile, is shooting 38.9 percent from beyond the arc and has at least one 3-pointer in the past five games.

1/24/15 at Lock Haven (Saintilus, Riles, Mortellite, Haigler, Prislupsky)
