1 Fabric Palette® Fat Quarter (18" x 21") Adhesive hook-and-loop tape - 1" Coordinating thread Ruler and pencil Tube turner or chopstick Basic sewing supplies Sewing machine Iron and pressing surface

B efore you begin Read all instructions before beginning project. Do not pre-wash fat quarter. Use a ¼" seam allowance and sew fabrics with right sides together (RST) unless otherwise noted. Backstitch at the beginning and end of seams. 2" x 2 ½"

1. Fold Bow in half RST matching long edges. Press fold firmly then fold Bow in half again matching short edges. Place the Tip Shaper Template on the end opposite the vertical fold. Match long edges to the Bow edges and the point on the short edge. Mark along edges of the Template then cut along the lines to shape the Bow ends (Dia. A). Sew around short ends and bottom leaving a 3" opening in the center of the bottom for turning.

2. Trim seam allowance at the points to 1⁄8" and turn Bow right side out with a tube or chopstick; carefully push out points. Press edges of opening under and hand closed. 3. Fold Bow in half matching points and press to mark the center line. Leave folded mark 4" from the fold (center line); sew along this line through all layers (Dia. B).

4. Open the back of the Bow with ends pointing in opposite directions. Match the with the center line; flatten the front loop and pin layers together along the center

5. With RST, fold Knot in half matching long edges and sew along top and side edges Clip corner diagonally and turn right side out; press well. 6. Fold Neckband RST matching long edges; press. Sew short edges and long edges a 3" opening in the center of the long seam. Clip corners and turn right side out; Hand stitch opening closed.

7. Thread a needle with a doubled thread. Pinch the center of the Bow firmly then tightly with the thread; knot thread and clip ends (Dia. E).

8. Find the center of the Neckband and place it in the center back of the Bow. Dia. F

9. Center the cut end of Knot on the backside of the Bow and wrap the finished end front then to the back to overlap the cut edges; pin in place (Dia. F). Hand stitch snuggly in place.

10. While wearing a collared shirt, place Bowtie around child’s neck. Pin and mark the overlap. Remove from child’s neck, separate the hook-and-loop layers and place them at marks on ends. Follow package instuctions to attach.
