Cagey Whitetail Deer Racing Across the Cannonball River Wildlife: Considered one of the most challenging game animals, the whitetail deer are abundant due to the incredible habitat and food source this ranch offers. There are also blacktail deer along the river and the occasional mule deer for an excellent variety of big game animals.

View of the Corn Field—you can hear the pheasants running through the corn field! DESCRIPTION: 140 acres of corn were planted by a local farmer with the profits divided. The ranch owner made a profit of $40,000 for his share. Pine trees were planted on the outer perimeter to create wind-break and habitat.

Solen ND Solen has a population of 88 people as of July 2009. Solen, located in Sioux County, is only a few miles from the headquarters of the Cannonball River Ranch. The ranch is located in Morton County with a population of 7,673 as of 2010 and a land area covering 1,902 Square Miles. Elevation is 1,680 ft above sea level and the average rainfall is between 12.6 to 18.7 inches. Temperatures in July average 70 degrees for the high to 56.3 degrees for the low.
