SUMMER 2015
Letter from the Chair Dear Parents and Carers, Well I can’t believe how quickly this year has gone! The end of term is already upon us and finally it feels like summer is here. As always it has been an eventful year – we now have Wi-Fi, tablets were purchased, touch screen interactive boards were installed in 3 classrooms, a new door entry system was fitted to access the Nursery, repairs have been made to doors, windows and toilets, the library books have been sorted and re stocked, Yr 1 have moved onto the new curriculum and our SENDco has been transitioning our children with Statements of Special Education Needs onto the new Education, Health and Care Plans. Last but by no means least we were inspected by Ofsted in January. We were immensely proud of the way our pupils behaved and interacted with the Inspectors. Our staff coped amazingly with the enormous pressure an inspection puts on them. We are very pleased to be judged Good in all areas and feel it is a great achievement under the current inspection criteria. The Inspectors highlighted areas to move us to outstanding that we had already identified and started to work on and these
will be the main focus for improvements in the new year. Alongside delivering our vision and addressing Ofsted’s comments we have some large projects planned for 2015 – 2016. Over the summer the school will be connected to the mains gas supply and we will be extending the KS1 playground to gain a larger playing space. We will also be reviewing the current KS1 play equipment and developing an outdoor teaching area in the woodland section of the field.
Ofsted Rating Our Ofsted inspection took place in January this year and we are proud to have remained an Ofsted rated good school
Finally our leavers! We wish Mrs Sanghera all the very best for her retirement and to our Year 2 pupils, every success in their new schools. We hope you all have a lovely summer break and look forward to welcoming our Year 1 and Foundation stage pupils back in September. Yours sincerely,
Our attendance From September 2014 to May 2015 our attendance has been

What is Good? By Annabelle Bentley
Teaching in most subjects including English and Math’s is consistently good. With some examples of outstanding teaching as well. Teachers have high expectations. Teachers listen to, carefully observe and skillfully question pupils during lessons. Reading, writing, communication and mathematics are taught effectively. Teachers and other adults create a positive climate for learning and pupils are interested and engaged.
Teachers assess pupils’ learning and progress regularly and accurately at all key stages. They have effective learning strategies including setting appropriate homework.
Teachers ensure that pupils know how well they have done and what they need to do to improve. Teachers plan and teach lessons that deepen pupils’ knowledge and understanding and enable them to develop a range of skills across the curriculum.

As in previous years the responses were generally positive There was a decrease in the response rate compared to 2014 The differences between year groups seem smaller than in previous years Areas for focus in the School Improvement plan o Communication remains an issue; however, this year it seems to be specifically around communication of individual children’s progress or activities o There seemed to be a concern that there are too many forms of communication o The school vision needs to be articulated more effectively o Engaging with parents to increase their involvement in school life in school life
