Zalakar — Wudarczyk

Amanda Hillery-Mills of Monrovia, MD and Jaron Starner of Dover, PA were engaged on June 3rd, 2014.

Joseph and Virginia Zalakar, of York, PA are pleased to announce the engagement of their son, Michael Zalakar to Lydia Wudarczyk of Pittsburgh, PA.

The couple met at York College of Pennsylvania when they were students. Currently, Amanda works at Hanover Middle School as a 6th grade teacher and Jaron is the manager of Cedar Lake Campground in Dover, PA. The couple have a wedding planned for July 25th, 2015 in White Hall, Maryland.

Michael is a 2008 graduate of Spring Grove Area High School and a 2014 graduate of Duquesne University Mylan School of Pharmacy. He is currently a Pharmacist at Giant Pharmacy in Red Lion. Lydia is a 2008 graduate of Mount Alvernia High School and a 2014 graduate of Duquesne University Mylan School of Pharmacy in Pittsburgh,Pa. She is currently Pharmacy Manager at Rite Aid in Pittsburgh, PA. Michael and Lydia were classmates in pharmacy school and were engaged in February 2014.

Antonopoulos — Labanoski Chris and Vickie Antonopoulos, York, announce the engagement of their daughter, Yianna, to Drew Labanoski, son of Lois Labanoski, Butler Township, and the late Gary Labanoski. The bride-to-be is a 2005 graduate of York Suburban High School, where she was a York County cross country all-star and soccer standout. She is a 2009 graduate of the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and ran cross country and track for the Blue Hens. Yianna will graduate this spring with her Ph.D in Biochemistry from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. The prospective groom is a 2003 graduate of Hazleton Area High School and a 2007 graduate of Schreyer Honors College of Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy. He is a 2011 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Law with a Juris Doctorate degree and the University of Pittsburgh’s Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business with a Master’s of Business Administration in Finance. He is currently a Director with ArbJournal.

The couple are planning an April 2015 wedding Pittsburgh, PA.

ANNIVERSARY Mr. & Mrs. Fickes Robert and June Fickes of Dover celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a party given by family at the Out Door Country Club. They were married on December 19, 1964 by Rev. David E. Ebersole of Christ Lutheran Church, Manchester. Their blessings include two daughters, Barbara (John) Enterline and Vicki (Edward) Ritter, two grandsons, Matthew (Demaris) Enterline and David (Elizabeth) Ritter, one granddaughter, Andrea (Patrick) Dennis, and four great grandchildren. Robert, a World War II veteran who served in the Philippines, was a self-employed plasterer before his retirement. June was employed by Cole Steel Equipment Company before her marriage. She then managed Robert’s office and their home. Robert has been an active member of the Dover Lions Club for many years. They are also members of Calvary Lutheran Church of Dover and together have helped to sew many quilts for the needy. They have enjoyed their many travels, especially their trips to Texas, Florida, Maine, Nova Scotia, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, the Finger Lakes, the beach and their Potter County cabin. When asked the secret to their marriage’s longevity they said, “Commitment”.
