CENTER FOR COMMUNITY ENGAGED LEARNING PROGRAM COORDINATOR CCEL INFORMATION The Center for Community Engaged Learning (CCEL) at Weber State University (WSU) is a strategic partnership between Academic Affairs and Student Affairs that facilitates curricular and co-curricular service, democratic engagement and community research experiences for students, faculty and staff and serves as a catalyst for campus-wide community engagement initiatives. The CCEL has a growing national reputation as demonstrated by the Carnegie Classification for Community Engagement awarded in 2008 and again in 2015; annual awardee of the President’s Honor Roll for Community Service since the inception of the award in 2006; designation as a lead institution in NASPA’s Lead Initiative for Civic Learning and Democratic Engagement since 2012; and the 2015 national New York Life Higher Education Civic Engagement Award from The Washington Center. The Program Coordinator will play a key role in the Center’s continued growth. The program coordinator is a multi-faceted position, responsible for various programs intended to increase community engaged learning (CEL) opportunities for WSU students, staff, faculty and community partners. This position will be responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating new programs such as community engagement programs that support students through graduation and CELdesignated departments in Student Affairs, as well as maintaining existing initiatives such as campuswide days of community engagement, the CIVITAS program and the Engaged Learning Series. This position will work with diverse campus and community stakeholders. RESPONSIBILITIES  Serve as the liaison between the Center for Community Engaged Learning and Student Affairs by working with departments to create, sustain and assess community engaged learning opportunities.  Work with Weber State departments, community nonprofits and local school districts to develop recruitment and retention plans that support underrepresented student engagement.  Oversee development of programs that support student engagement from freshman/transfer year to graduation.  Organize campus-wide days of community engagement and work with WSU departments to increase participation.  Work with Faculty-In-Residence CCEL team member to incorporate CEL Designated Departments within Student Affairs.  Provide logistical support for the Community Engaged Learning Series and the CIVITAS program.  Maintain accurate records in WeberSync that record hours of community engagement related to programs overseen and prepare reports related to projects.  Provide consultation, training and assistance to staff on implementing effective community engagement tools and opportunities for themselves, their staff and the students they serve.  Serve as a trip adviser for the alternative breaks program, as needed.  Review and evaluate programs and make enhancements to improve effectiveness, learning outcomes and future offerings. REPORTING STRUCTURE (accountability)  Reports to Assistant Director, Center for Community Engaged Learning  Performance review will take place after 6 months and then annually

Appointment  Full-time, 12-month staff position. Work hours will be M-F, 8-5. Weekends and evening as needed to support events. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS  An earned bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.  Demonstrated skill set centered on cultural awareness, group dynamics and human development.  Demonstrated ability to initiate, develop and sustain relationships with community agencies, students, staff and faculty.  Project and program management skills including development, implementation, management and evaluation.  Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.  Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment as a team player.  Basic proficiency with desktop computing and use of the Web for information gathering and program administration.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS  Master’s degree in educational leadership, student affairs, public administration or related field.  One or more years of experience in higher education, community engaged learning, nonprofit work, community development, student leadership development, or related field.  Experience coordinating community engaged learning programs that incorporate service, democratic engagement and/or community research. DECISION MAKING: Independent thinking and creativity is required. Must be able to make programmatic decisions after gathering needed information. Requires ability to make decisions unique to each situation. Must prioritize multiple job demands, problem-solve and trouble shoot. SCOPE of AUTHORITY: Has authority to develop and facilitate community engaged learning programs in consultation with the Assistant Director of the Center for Community Engaged Learning as appropriate.

COMMUNICATION: This position involves a degree of visibility, both internally and externally, in dealing with community members, students, staff and faculty in developing and facilitating community engagement at WSU and in the community. Position requires excellent oral and written communication skills to facilitate programs and deliver presentations. SALARY Staff Member – Non-exempt pay grade
