Welcome –
from the LWML Whether you are new in your calling that the Lord has given you or new to the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML), we welcome you on behalf of the members of this organization. The LWML, along with the Lutheran Laymen’s League (LLL), are the official auxiliaries of the Lutheran Church— Missouri Synod. Since 1942, the LWML has focused on affirming each woman’s relationship with Christ, encouraging and equipping women to live their Christian lives in active mission ministries. By God’s grace, over $100 million has also been donated through mite offerings for global missions over those years! The LWML’s joy-filled mission and ministry continues, and your collaboration is welcome.
LWML Mission Statement
The mission of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League is to assist each woman of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod in affirming her relationship with the Triune God so that she is enabled to use her gifts in ministry to the people of the world. (Adopted October 1988) Please join the women of the LWML as they share their hearts for Christ in sharing the Good News with others around the world. We praise God for you and your dedication to share His love with those around you. We pray that you will daily find renewed joy in serving our Savior and sharing His love. May God bless your ministry to His glory.

CHURCH WORKERS in Mission
To develop a collaborative relationship with LCMS church workers
Partnering with the
Lutheran Women’s Missionary League in sharing the Good News with others around the world And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ. Ephesians 4:11-12
Work of Martha, Devotion of Mary Today, the LWML continues to affirm each woman’s relationship with Christ and encourages her to support God’s mission among the people of the world. Since 1942, the LWML has been equipping women for service in the church and community and encouraging them to provide financial support for local and global missions. Much of what the women of the LWML do quietly takes place in the local parish. LWML societies in congregations are the backbone of the LWML. They likely fulfill many roles in the congregation, from serving on the Altar Guild and quilting, to hosting potluck dinners and serving for funerals. They are often involved in local mission projects and other activities.
Living and Sharing Faith The women of the LWML encourage each other to be passionate about living and sharing their faith. They pray for each other and for their church workers. They spend time together in the Word. They commit themselves to support their church and their church workers. The women of the LWML support mission projects locally and internationally. By pooling their mite offerings, they provide significant financial support to a wide array of ministries that proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and show His care to those in need. Over the years, many churches like yours have directly benefited from LWML grants and mission projects.
Encouragement The women of the LWML are: • Praying for you and encouraging you in your ministry. • Ready and willing to assist you as you work with God’s people. • Available to answer any questions you may have about the LWML. • Able to equip you with ready-to-use Bible studies and devotions that have been through the LCMS doctrinal review process. • Prepared to share information with you regarding the missions supported by LWML, servant events, outreach activities, and much more. The women of the LWML are truly appreciative of the support of all our pastors and other church workers. Your participation will be a joy for them and for you, as we serve the Lord in partnership through the mission and ministry of the LWML.
What are some things you can do to encourage the work of the LWML? • If you don’t have an active society in your church, encourage several key women in your congregation to consider learning more about the LWML. • Support the women in your local society who are using their gifts, talents, resources and abilities for ministry. • Pray with and for your LWML members. • Pray for the fulfillment of current mission grants, both national and district. • Share the enormous impact mite offerings have around the world. • Make it a point to attend zone events with the women of your society – usually one in the spring and one in the fall. • Offer to serve with your LWML members on the zone level. • Subscribe to the Lutheran Women’s Quarterly magazine. • Learn more about the LWML by visiting www.lwml.org regularly.
