Offer of Employment - Curator of Exhibits
I am pleased to announce that Steven Villano has accepted the City's offer of employment for the Museum Department Curator of Exhibits position. The position was restored during the December 17, 2015 City Council meeting in response to the increase in exhibit space at the Centennial Building. Mr. Villano brings over 20 years of experience in exhibit design, creative development and installation. His previous experience includes work at the Field Museum of Natural History and the San Francisco International Airport Museum. In addition, Mr. Villano has extensive experience in film, audio and graphic project design for integration into exhibits. Mr. Villano moved to Ketchikan in 2014. He served as a seasonal tour guide at the Totem Heritage Center in 2015, sharing information with visitors about Northwest Coast cultures that he first learned at the Field Museum when dealing with repatriated Northwest Coast artifacts. The Museum Department is excited to welcome Steven Villano and looks forward to benefiting from his tremendous expertise. He is scheduled to begin employment on July 5, 2016.
