ell phones were flying, shopping bags were dropping, cameras were flashing, Amanda Bynes walked into Steve and Barry’s, and a mob of little girls swarmed her and her bodyguards. The people standing in line went wild, and almost every person in the store was screaming at the top of their lungs, hoping to get just one glimpse of Bynes. Hundreds of fans from San Antonio gathered to see Bynes, who has starred in movies like Hairspray, She’s the Man, and Sydney White. Recently, Amanda Bynes came to San Antonio to introduce her clothing line “dear” at Steve and Barry’s. The clothes are exceptional for such a small price. Bynes said she chose to pursue fashion design because Steve and Barry’s asked her to join them in creating a unique line. She also said she has always loved drawing; it has just been hard to design clothes since she has been so busy in her acting career. “Steve and Barry’s is not arrogant, and they have a humble way of going about selling their clothes,” said Bynes. Bynes’ inspiration for this design came from her love for “comfort, bold colors, stripes, and sparkles.” She wanted to create a line that people of all ages would enjoy. Bynes was wearing clothes from “dear” at her appearance at Steve and Barry’s. She also said her mom even loves wearing the clothes. Bynes feels her main goal in creating “dear” is so people can wear “clothes they love, at an affordable price.” She also stated that the affordable price is what makes her line unique. The most expensive item in her line is a jacket, which is $19.98.

he most inimitable thing about Bynes’ line is that she wears the clothes, herself. Bynes has many favorites within “dear,” which include the charcoal t-shirt she wore in Sydney White, ballet flats, and the slouch boots. “This is the second time I have seen “dear,” and I think it looks very nice,” said Patty a mom waiting in line with her daughters to meet Bynes.

Steve and Barry’s popularity is growing across the nation. Amanda Bynes is not the only celebrity to have a clothes line at Steve and Barry’s; actress, Sarah Jessica Parker has her line “BITTEN,” a line that Bynes often wears, NBA star, Stephen Marbury has his “Starbury” line, and Venus Williams will be coming out with her line “Eleven.” Currently, officials at Steve and Barry’s don’t have plans to open a location in North San Antonio, but until they change their minds it’s worth the drive.
