THE GAME: . THE GAME: A team shall consist of six players; a minimum of four players (MINUS THE GOALIE - See Rule 5 below). When playing with 6 & 4, there must be an equal number of male & female players. When playing with 5, there must be 3 of one gender, and 2 of the other. IF BOTH TEAMS HAVE THE NUMBERS AND AGREE, THEY MAY PLAY WITH 6 PLAYERS + THEIR GOALIE (SEE RULE 5 BELOW). The breakdown must be 3 of one gender and 4 of the other, and the goalkeeper may be either gender. This MUST BE AGREED UPON before the game begins, and if one team would rather not play with 7 total players, that decision must be respected. 1. All players must wear the same color jerseys, which will be determined by the schedule which team wears Dark and which team will wear White. Pinnies may not be provided at every contest. 2. Length of the game: (2) 15-minute halves with a 5-minute halftime. The clock is stopped only after scoring a goal, for a penalty kick, or for an IM supervisor/Referee timeout. There is no “added” time. 3. Soft cleated shoes are allowed but metal or screw-in spikes are FORBIDDEN. START OF PLAY: 1. Beginning possession will be determined by coin flip. The winning team will begin with the ball in the middle of the field and the opposing team 10 yards away. 2. The clock starts after the ball is kicked. 3. A goal CANNOT be scored from a kickoff. OFFSIDE: There is no offside’s (Unless blatantly obvious-No Cherry Picking) FOULS AND MISCONDUCTS: 1. The officials will make all calls regarding fouls. 2. A list of fouls that are penalized with a "direct" free kick: a. Handling the ball with hands or arms is not allowed; b. Holding or obstructing an opponent to keep him from playing the ball; c. Placing hands on an opponent in an effort to reach the ball; d. Pushing, striking, or attempting to strike an opponent; e. Jumping at an opponent; f. Kicking or attempting to kick an opponent, or tripping an opponent; g. Charging an opponent from behind, when the opponent has both feet off the ground, or using the knee on an opponent; h. Tackling an opponent from a blind side or behind is not allowed; i. Charging a goalie in the GOAL AREA; j. Using foul or abusive language (swearing loudly or at someone); and, k. Unsportsmanlike conduct

FREE KICKS: 1. Opposing team players must stand 8 yards away. 2. The ball must be motionless prior to the kick. GOALKEEPER PRIVILEGES: 1. Hands and arms may be used to stop a ball from scoring. 2. Hand may NOT be used to receive a pass back from the feet of a teammate nor a throw-in. PENALTY KICKS: 1. The penalty mark is 10-yards out from the goal line. 2. The goalkeeper must stand on the goal line until the ball is kicked. 3. A defender committing any foul inside the penalty area results in a penalty kick. THROW-INS: 1. Throw-ins are taken when the ball goes out of bounds over the sideline. 2. The throw is two-handed with equal pressure and continuous. Both feet must remain on the ground and behind the sideline. CORNER KICKS: 1. Corner kicks occur when the ball crosses the end line (not scoring), last touched by a defender. 2. A goal can be scored directly. 3. Opponents must stay 8 yards away from the kick. GOAL KICKS: 1. 2. 3. 4.

Goal kicks occur when the ball crosses the end line (not scoring), last touched by the offender. Goal kicks are kicked from the corner of the goal area. Opponents must be outside the penalty area until the ball crosses the penalty area line. The kick must be a place kick.

SUBSTITUTIONS: 

Substitutions can occur when the ball crosses the sideline, goal line, end line or after a goal. The referee must acknowledge the substitute and the player cannot enter the field of play until he is waved in.

TIEBREAKER:  

Games will end in a tie if both teams have the same number of goals at the end of regulation In Playoffs If still tied at the end of regulation, then a 10 min. sudden death will occur. If the game remains tied after the 10 min. overtime then a kick off will occur. Each team will get 3 penalty kicks, alternating kicks between teams. Each goal scored counts toward final score.

SCORING: 1. The entire ball must pass over the goal line. 2. A goal counts as one point

PROTESTS All protests must be made in writing and presented to the IM office. Unsportsmanlike action will NOT be tolerated!   



One NO SHOW will put your team on probation. Once on probation, one additional no show may remove your team from competition. Additional players may be added UP TO game time on the day of your scheduled event. Roster additions are all on IMLeagues.com. E-mail [email protected] with questions. No Members of the BC Soccer Teams are allowed to participate on any team in any league including red shirt/injured players.
