Coming Soon Playground Improvements!!! Donated by the Sunrise Estates PTO
Sunrise is a Blue Ribbon School!! §
In order to celebrate, the PTO is going to make changes to the playground area.
§
Most of the changes will be made to the blacktop area.
§
Students will have more options for playing.
§
There will be more games on “circle only” days.
We’re Adding an Outdoor Storage Box §
The box will contain toys supplied by the PTO: §
Chalk
§
Jump ropes
§
Balls
§
Bean bags
§
Other playground toys
New Games on the Blacktop §
New games will be painted on the blacktop circle area.
§
Everyone should find a game they like.
§
They will be spread out so that they will not be in the way of each other, kickball, or basketball.
Combination of Simon Says and Memory Mirror Me- You need to repeat the pattern of the person in the circle.
See if you Can Twist Better than Your Classmate Twister– play it just like the board game.
Hopscotch Hopscotch- Bean bags will be located in the outdoor storage box.
See How Far You Can Jump Long Jump- You can compete against a friend or yourself. See if you can beat your last jump.
See If You Can Reach 200 Points Target Rings Bean Bag Toss- Start at the first line and see if you can get to 200 points. Move back to a different line to make it more challenging. Bean Bags will be in the storage box.
See if You Can Walk Past Mr. Fox without Getting Caught What Time is it Mr. Fox?Mr. Fox will stand with his back to the rest of the kids. The kids can move forward as many steps as the time. But, watch out! Mr. Fox can turn around and chase everyone at anytime.
Can You Make More Squares Than Your Classmate? Dot to Dot Square GameDraw lines to make squares. When you’ve made a square put your initial in it. Chalk will be in the storage box.
Can You Let it Only Bounce Once? Four Squares- Bounce the ball to a friend in another square. He must then bounce the ball in another square before it bounces a 2nd time. Balls will be in the storage box.
Improve the Basketball Area §
One hoop will be relocated, the other will stay where it is.
§
Both basketball hoops will get new backboards and rims.
§
The blacktop area in front of both hoops will be painted to add lines.
New Ga Ga Ball Pit §
A new ga ga ball pit will be added right outside of the blacktop circle area so that it can be used during “circle only” days.
§
It will be large enough to fit a bunch of kids at one time.
§
It’s a fun game that is similar to dodgeball, but is played slightly differently.
§
Rules will be included and balls will be in the storage box.
When are the Changes Coming? We don’t know exactly when we’ll make the changes. Part of it depends on the weather. But, they should be done by April!
