Where we are today • Rural Business Enterprise Grant 7-22-11: $99,000/ $40,000 • ☺ NYSDEC postponed further removal of stop logs & breaching of northern section of dam. • Gomez & Sullivan Engineers, P.C. from Utica: Design Study”. Inspection & Site Survey, Subsurface Investigation, Hydrology, Hydraulics, Stability Analyses, Rehabilitation Design, Gates or Discharge Measures Design, Final Design Report and Incremental Dam Break Analysis. • ☯ Dam Break Analysis indicated & the NYSDEC agreed to reclassification to Low Hazard Class A • NYSDEC has not abated threat of legal action & requirements initiated under the High Hazard Class C • ☯ Stop Logs cannot be reinstalled until rehab, or engineering report indicates dam meets current safety criteria (Stability Analysis)
• Working with and seeking hydro companies for development • Investigating low head turbines coupled with financing for installation/ sale/ redirection of generated electricity • Investigating net metering potential: generated power for energy credit - ON SITE OR REMOTE. • Working with the “University Team” investigating Performance Optimized Data Centers (POD) as part of Clarkson University’s grant with NYSERDA. • Consolidating ownership – necessary for rehab • Discussing economic development potential: facilities related to production/ processing of maple syrup, biomass, mushrooms, grains, microbrewery, energy storage utilizing flywheel &/or battery technology, hydrogen/ oxygen production, & mechanical hydro development, & the direct marketing of products produced on site • Working on establishing long term involvement of colleges & universities utilizing the site as a test/ research/ demonstration model for what can be done with low head, deteriorating dams throughout the state and country and as a carbon neutral energy site
