AJHS was extremely pleased with the fantastic attendance at Literacy night! Thank you for joining us! One purpose of the evening was to discuss ways parents can help their children: Provide a quiet place to read. Provide a time to read. Read aloud to your child. Listen to audiobooks with your child. Read the book your child is reading. Model good reading habits. Talk about books your child is reading. Build a home library. Take your child to the public library.
For English homework, your student should be reading 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week for homework. This is 150 minutes weekly. page 5

Interested in coloring club? Talk to Mrs. Blake or Mrs. Smith. We meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays each month, in the library, to color and draw. You may bring your lunch, but talking should be kept outside the coloring zone. Our goal is to use creativity to relax and unwind from the stress of the school day
