Daubert Chemical Company has an immediate opening for a Plant and Process Engineering Manager at its production facility located near Midway Airport in Chicago, IL. Reporting directly to the Executive VP of Operations, primary functions include managing capital projects from conceptualization through start up and leading all aspects of process engineering at the plant. This position is responsible for managing 2 engineers. A key position requirement is a minimum of a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and experience working in a batch specialty chemical engineering environment for a minimum of 5 years. The candidates must be focused and able to manage and complete multiple projects simultaneously. The Engineering Manager will build trusting relationships and collaborate directly with Production, R&D, and Maintenance. This position requires the candidate to be self-directing and a superb problem solver. Attention to detail, good communications skills, mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with others are crucial in this role. Essential Job Responsibilities: Manage Capital Projects from Conceptualization through Start Up. •

Conceptualize, plan, and manage all capital expenditure related to manufacturing equipment. Capital expenditures will be required to support growth into new product lines, growth of existing product lines, and in kind equipment replacements. Execute capital projects within scope, cost, time & safety standards. Manage contractors and procure equipment associated with capital projects. Develop a long-range capital plan for the plant, in accordance with customer/market demands.
Manage all Aspects of Process Engineering at the Plant. • • •

Lead product/process quality improvement and cycle time reduction efforts. Perform root cause analysis for product quality issues. Implement identified corrective action measures. Optimize batch-to-batch process consistency and develop SOP’s through improvements in work instructions, training and cross functional communication between R&D, Quality and Operations. Manage process scale-up efforts to successfully bridge lab-developed new products to manufacturing. Manage the development of an effective training program for Operators. Cultivate a widespread culture of continuous improvement spanning product quality, processes and efficiency.

BS in Chemical Engineering required; minimum 5 years of experience in engineering field in a batch specialty chemical engineering environment. Experience with industrial automation required. Team Management: Minimum 2 years of experience managing a team is required; ability to facilitate positive teamwork and lead by example. Experience in planning and managing capital projects required. Process Safety Management (PSM) highly desired. Effectively manage resources and handle changing priorities. Communicate clearly and concisely throughout all levels of the organization in order to establish and maintain strong employee and vendor relationships. Proficient in Microsoft Office, plus ability to learn other systems is required. Knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
