FRISCO BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION Board of Directors Meeting Minutes December 5, 2011 7:00 pm @ Hope Fellowship Church Attendees: Ed Taylor, Watty Watson, Matt Welch, Dan Calhoun, Jeff Asay, Rhett Blake, Laurie Lahey, Broc Jahnke, Kenny Kelly, Matt Wiese, Jon Gowen, Chad Mosley, David Reck, Greg Heynes, Ryan Price, Dennis Hardy, David Bond, I. Call to order at 7:05 pm. II. Motion to accept Board Meeting Minutes from October Meeting not available. III. Open discussion for public. 1. Multiple requests to play up from 5U to 6U. Westley Reasor, Jace Feragotti, Carter Short, Benjamin Lundsgaarde, Lawson Montgomery, Dempsey Spiegel, Ryan Reemts. All player pass unanimously. 2. Request for Michael Boyle to play up to 5U. Request denied due to FBSA insurance policy. 3. Request for Owen Peck to play up from 8U to 10U. Passed unanimously. 4. Request for Mark Towne to play down from 7U to 6U during the spring 2012 season due to medical reasons. Request is only applicable for spring 2012 season and new approval must be received for each FBSA season. Note from physician was presented and request passed unanimously. 5. Request for Robbie Bennett to bring 10UAA team outside FBSA beginning spring 2012 season as well as future seasons as applicable. Request passes unanimously. IV. Open discussion for Board Members 1. Charlie Spiegel nominated for Sponsorship Director and passed unanimously. 2. Mark Clay nominated for 6U SB League Director and passed unanimously. 3. Motion by Rhett Blake and 2nd by Dan Calhoun to allow any person to coach that is at least 2 years older than the team they are intending to coach. Motion passes unanimously. 4. Motion by Dennis Hardy and 2nd by David Bond to allow any person of any age to coach in FBSA. 5 For, 7 Against and motion does not pass. 5. Motion by Ryan Price and 2nd by Jeff Asay to adjust 8U rules for the spring 2012 season. All of 8UA would play under pure Coach Pitch rules. Coaches in 8UAA would be given the option to choose between two leagues. AA Modified Coach Pitch league and AA pure Coach Pitch league. Motion passes unanimously. 6. Motion by Ryan Price and 2nd by Dennis Hardy to have 8UAA Coach Pitch to follow USSSA rules. Motion passes unanimously. 7. Motion by Jeff Asay and 2nd by Jon Gowen for FBSA to host a minimum of 4 sanctioned tournaments in 2012. These tournaments would be run by the Twist and Rider Select organizations and they would receive a reasonable split of the tournament revenue in return for working the events. Actual split between FBSA and the two select organizations to be determined at the January 2012 Board Meeting. Motion passes unanimously. 8. Charlie Spiegel to present a proposal at January Board Meeting on the possibility for FBSA to host a bat demo day during the spring 2012 season.
