Athletics, Wellness and Recreation Student Manager Job Description Athletics, Wellness and Recreation Managers are representatives of the Division of Student Affairs through the Department of Athletics, Wellness, and Recreation. As such they are representatives of SUNY New Paltz and expected to act accordingly at all times. Qualification Requirements:
Must be a full‐time matriculated undergraduate student at the College Must have at least Sophomore status (30 credits) or higher at the start of the position (Fall 2012) Must have at least 3.0 cumulative grade point average Must be good disciplinary standing with the Division of Student Affairs
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous managerial and supervisory experience Customer service/ Communication Skills Initiative and the ability to work alone or in a group Ability to work in a fast‐paced environment and handle frequent interruptions and/ or changes in task Experience with marketing and promotions
Position Responsibilities:
Return one week prior to the start of the classes for training; must participate in all scheduled workshops, events and staff development activities. Assist with the supervision and training of student workers in the AWC and Elting Gym Act as liaison with two to three Residence Hall staffs by promoting events and activities in both the Residence Halls as well as the AWC. Support all department programs and communities. Complete all aspects of an assigned Special Project Area throughout the semester, and regularly report to staff and supervisor. Attend annual Open House, Accepted Students Day and various departmental events as needed. Maintain a professional relationship with various campus departments and patrons. Participate in the Manager weekend duty rotation. Complete information reports regarding situations in AWC/Elting facilities as needed. Complete weekly reports on a regular basis Other duties as assigned
Term of Contract These Conditions of Employment are effective beginning 8/13/12 and ending 5/12/13. The term is for one academic year; a SM may not apply for other job/internship/student leadership positions that would interfere with the ability to do this job during the term of employment. Compensation is $8.50 per hour. SMs will work on average 15‐20 hours per week. Pending a satisfactory job evaluation and approval, a SM is able to apply for re‐employment for the following academic year. Any violation of campus, local, state, or federal law will result in immediate termination of employment. As representatives of the Division of Student affairs, SMs are to uphold this in all personal and electronic interactions. Failure to adhere to these expectations may result in the removal from the position. Please note that any violation of these Conditions of Employment may result in termination of employment.
