James Madison is ranked #2 in FCS in total defense (221.7 ypg), scoring defense (11.0 ppg) and pass defense (123.2 ypg). Villanova is #1 in rush defense (49.3 ppg), #9 in scoring defense (15.6 ppg) and #14 in total defense (288.4 ypg). UAlbany is #10 in total defense (251.2 ypg), #11 in scoring defense (17.0 ppg) and #12 in rush defense (88.5 ypg). He is also the Spiders’ career leader in TD passes (64) and is five shy of 10th place on the CAA chart. Lauletta leads the nation in passing (391.3 ypg) and total offense (393.8 ypg) and ranks fifth in passing TD’s (19). He became the first Maine player since 1989 to run for over 200 yards twice in a season, tallying 255 yards vs. Bryant on Sept. 9 and 248 yards vs. Rhode Island last Saturday. Four of the top eight rushing performances in FCS this season have been by CAA players. Along with Mack’s two efforts, Elon’s Malcolm Summers ran for 298 yards vs. Richmond and JMU’s Cardon Johnson rushed for 265 yards at East Carolina. Unfortunately, Summers and Johnson have since suffered season-ending injuries. On Saturday, the last remaining undefeated Ivy teams square off when Dartmouth (5-0, 2-0 Ivy) hosts Columbia (5-0, 2-0 Ivy) on Eleven Sports, Ivy League Network and Twitter. It marks the third time this season Dartmouth will take on a fellow unbeaten Ivy squad that is tied with the Big Green at the top of the standings (Penn, Yale). The Lions are looking to continue their best start since 1996. Three of this week’s games will be broadcast live on ILN, now available on Apple TV, Roku and the ILN app on Apple and Android devices. #IvyFootball finished 18-6 in non-conference play in 2017, its best overall out-of-conference record since 1994, when it went 19-3-1. The Ivy League went 10-2 over its first two weeks this season, its best non-conference start since 1970, when it opened 12-0. The Ivy League’s .750 non-conference winning percentage leads the FCS and ranks fourth overall in Division I, trailing the SEC (.821), Pac 12 (.794) and Big Ten (.762). Off: WR Josh Wainwright., Columbia | Def: LB Michael Murphy, Columbia | ST: KR Justice Shelton-Mosley, Harvard | Rookie: LB Justin Woodley, Columbia MEAC -- The third week of October continues with all 11 teams in action this weekend. Five conference games will take place in addition to a non-conference contest featuring Savannah State at Charleston Southern. The contest featuring Bethune-Cookman at North Carolina A&T State will be shown on national TV as ESPNU will show the contest at 10:30 p.m. Saturday night. North Carolina A&T State is the only MEAC team with an undefeated overall record while North Carolina Central and Hampton are the only other MEAC teams that have a winning record. While its early, the Aggies will possibly have to deal with the pressure of chasing history as only two teams in NCAT history have finished undefeated (1927, 1943). Two teams (North Carolina A&T State, South Carolina State) feature defensive units ranked in the top 10 nationally. NCAT is No. 3 while South Carolina State ranks eighth. Hampton is bordering the top 10 as they rank 13th. Off/Rookie: QB Caylin Newton, Howard | Def: LB Eli Anglin, Howard | O-Line: Marley Conley, NC Central | ST: PK Uriel Hernandez, BCU MISSOURI VALLEY -- Eight MVFC teams rank in the Top 20 for FCS schools in the Sagarin Rankings, which includes 6 of the top 7 spots. No other conference has more than 3 schools ranked among the Top 20. HERO Sports’ BennettRank yields similar results -- with six MVFC schools ranked in the Top 11. North Dakota State, South Dakota and Youngstown State rank in the Top 4 in both metrics. The winner of this matchup has gone onto secure the conference’s automatic bid to the FCS playoffs each of the past two seasons. Duquesne’s Tommy Stuart leads the NEC in completion percentage (68.9) and TD passes (20) while SFU signal caller Bear Fenimore (63.5 pct. – 14 TD) ranks second in both categories. Meanwhile, the Dukes’ Nehari Crawford, who has at least one TD in all six games this season, leads the FCS with 10 receiving TD. Saint Francis junior Kamron Lewis, a 2016 All-American, sits tied for sixth nationally with 49 receptions. Central Connecticut, which has won four in a row for the first time since 2010, has returned an interception for a touchdown in each of its past four games. OHIO VALLEY -- Jacksonville State won its 27th-straight OVC game on Saturday with a 41-25 win over Eastern Kentucky. The win established a new Conference record, breaking the old mark held at EKU (1992-95). The Gamecocks are now 3-0 in OVC play this season and will play at Eastern Illinois (4-0 in OVC play) on Saturday in the OVC Game of the Week on ESPN3. It marks the second time in three years the two teams have played when both have been undefeated in OVC play. Austin Peay won its second-straight road game (the first time they have accomplished that since 2007) with a 21-17 victory at Tennessee State. The Governors are now 3-1 in OVC play, its best Conference start since winning its lone OVC Championship in 1977. Eastern Illinois running back Isaiah Johnson rushed for 236 yards in the Panthers double overtime win against Murray State on Saturday. The 236 yards were the eight-most in a game in EIU history and ninth-most in the FCS this season. Off: Isaiah Johnson (RB), E. Illinois | Def: Darius Jackson (LB), Jacksonville St. | ST: Jake Reynolds (P), SEMO | Newc: Isaiah Johnson (RB), EIU PATRIOT -- Three games will stream live on the Patriot League Network (PLN). Colgate travels to Holy Cross for a game streamed live on PatriotLeague.TV and WatchStadium.com, in addition to being available on Twitter via @WatchStadium at noon ET. The Raiders and Crusaders will also be available on a variety of Over-the-Air (OTA) stations. Georgetown hosts Fordham during Homecoming on the Hilltop with coverage on the PLN. Lafayette puts its unbeaten record in League play on the line against Bucknell with coverage on the PLN and the Lafayette Sports Network. Lehigh WR Troy Pelletier was named the STATS FCS Offensive Player of the Week, becoming the second League player this season to earn a national player of the week honor after a record-setting day against Georgetown with 16 receptions to break his own single-game League record, while his four TD receptions tied the single-game League record. His four TDs give him 34 during his career, tying him with former Fordham star Javaris Dudley (2000-03) for the all-time lead. Lafayette Head Coach John Garrett has yet to lose a League game, after freshman quarterback Sean O’Malley connected with senior wide receiver Rocco Palumbo twice in the fourth quarter to lead a 14-10 comeback victory over Fordham on October 7. PFL -- San Diego posted its 16th consecutive PFL victory with a Week 7 win against Morehead State. The Toreros broke their own record of 15 consecutive wins set from 2005-07.

Jacksonville may have suffered its first PFL loss at Butler in Week 7 but it may still have a say in the eventual PFL title. League leaders San Diego and Campbell will play the Dolphins the next two weeks. If the Dolphins win both, they would take the lead in the league title race. However, if both San Diego and Campbell escape with wins then the league’s tiebreaker may be called into action at week’s end. Dayton head coach Rich Chamberlin notched his 56th PFL victory in his 75th league game, Oct. 7, when the Flyers defeated Drake. He broke the PFL record for coaching victories set by his former head coach Mike Kelley, who posted 55 league wins (71 games) during his storied career. They are the only two coaches in PFL history to record 50 league wins. OFF – QB Jimmy Seewald, Valparaiso | DEF – DE Jonathan Petersen, San Diego | ST – RS JJ Henderson, Stetson SOUTHERN -- Eight of the nine SoCon teams have either received votes or been ranked in one or both of the two major national polls at some point this season. Wofford (No. 5 FCS Coaches Poll/No. 5 STATS FCS Top 25), Samford (14/16) and Western Carolina (21/19) are all currently ranked, while The Citadel and Chattanooga have also spent time in the polls this year. ETSU, Furman and Mercer have received votes. Mercer and Furman will meet in Greenville, South Carolina, on Saturday, pitting Bears coach Bobby Lamb against Paladin coach Clay Hendrix for the first time in their careers as opposing head coaches. The pair shares an extensive history as high school and college teammates before coaching together at their alma mater, Furman, for several years. When Samford visits Wofford on Saturday, it will mark the fourth straight week that a SoCon game will feature a pair of ranked teams. OFF – Brandon Goodson, Sr., QB, Wofford | DEF: John Brannon III, So., DB, Western Carolina | ST: Jon Croft Hollingsworth, Sr., P/K, Furman SOUTHLAND -- Central Arkansas stayed at the No. 6 spot and Sam Houston State improved to No. 7 in both the FCS Coaches and STATS FCS polls heading into week eight. McNeese moved up two spots to No. 19 in the coaches poll and up two rankings to No. 20 in the STATS top 25. Nicholls is up three spots to No. 20 in STATS poll. Nicholls PK Lorran Fonseca added to his second conference player of the week award with STATS FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week distinction. The junior out of Hercules, Calif., set a program record with a perfect 5-5 outing in a 29-20 win over Abilene Christian. Neither of the league’s national top 10 teams had an easy go last week - Central Arkansas got all it could handle from Stephen F. Austin, edging the Lumberjacks 24-20, while Sam Houston State trailed the entire game until a 4-play, 96-yard drive with 1:04 remaining lifted SHSU past Northwestern State.
