The designs need to fit within the following criteria (designs that do not fit this criteria take too long to embroider for the class time that we have.): o smaller than 100mm x100mm or 4” x 4” o no more than 4 color changes o less than 10,000 stitches § You will need designs for the following projects: • T-shirt • Terry cloth towel – design should have no areas that are less than 1/4” wide. • Fleece blanket • Quilt sandwich – design should replicate hand-quilting, such as line drawings • Organza scrap – design to be used as a patch, should be fairly solid with little space within the design r Optional: Templates of your embroidery designs – only if you have the ability to print/copy them. This can be one of the following and will be covered on Day 1: 1. A printed template is sometimes included in the .pdf of instructions or in a booklet, if there is one. Print or copy the template pages onto paper. -or2. If you have software that will print a template, print a template onto paper.

Goodwill and the dollar store are your friends! All items can also be replaced with comparable fabric (i.e., knit for the t-shirt, terry cloth for the towel, fleece for the fleece blanket). Stabilizers: A stabilizer sampler pack is available that contains all stabilizers and specialty products needed to complete this class plus a few extra that will be talked about but not used. This pack is $25 and can be picked up at DSC during the class. If th you wish to purchase a stabilizer pack, please pre-order one at DSC on or before Monday, April 8 so that we can be sure to have enough of them prepared. The phone number there is 925-829-6511. If you choose not to order the stabilizer pack, you must still use the stabilizers that are listed below. They are all Floriani brand stabilizers and all are available at DSC. Any substitutions must be approved by the instructor prior to the class. General Class Information This class is about how to embroider specific items and how to do specific embroidery techniques. This is not a how-to-use your embroidery machine class. You should already know how to: • load embroidery designs onto your machine • determine the size of the design and the number of stitches and color changes the design includes • move the design around in the hoop • load the stabilizer and/or fabric into the hoop If you are unsure about any of the above, have your questions ready on Day 1.
