TIPS
The following pattern requires a piece of fabric 41” wide and 21” long. It is a good idea to start with a piece slightly larger than this to allow for inaccuracies in cutting. Fully line the piece of fabric with a medium weight iron on interfacing before cutting the individual pieces Don’t be tempted to use heavier weight interfacing. The seams will be too bulky. The pattern is suitable for directional and plain fabric. The image on the pattern layout sheet shows which way up the fabric needs to be for directional prints. The pattern is designed for lazy people like me. Using one piece of fabric will give the quickest result; however, all pieces shaded in grey on the pattern layout sheet will not be visible from the outside of the purse, so can be done in a different fabric if desired. Similarly, use your imagination and use contrasting fabrics; however, the layout, fabric qantity and cutting will need to be adjusted to suit. There are many similar sized pieces of fabric. It’s a good idea to write the name of the pattern piece on a scrap of paper and pin it to the fabric so they don’t get mixed up. Use 1/4” (6mm) seam allowance (except where noted in the instructions). Press seams as you go as it is difficult to iron once complete.
MATERIALS
41” wide x 21 long piece of fabric (quilting cottons and linens work well) 41” wide x 21” long piece of medium weight iron on interfacing 3 x 18cm zips (don’t be tempted to get larger zips and cut them down as the ends will be too bulky) 3 x 2/3” (16mm) snaps (sew in press studs will also work) 1 x magnetic clasp Matching thread 2 x Small D rings (optional) 1 x small Lobster clasp for strap (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS Step 1 - Interface Interface the entire piece of fabric prior to cutting.
