W NE2016-17 FOOTBALL COWL KNIT-A-LONG

Join us for the NFL/College/High School Football Cowl Knit-a-Long

Are you ready for some football? Join us for a fun Knit-a-Long and make the Scoreboard 2.0 Cowl as you follow your favorite NFL, college or hometown team this season. We’ll use the Knit Purl Hunter pattern to make a long or short cowl that will colorfully show the scoring of each game. A great gift for any rabid football fan!

KAL Kick-Off - Sunday, Sept. 11 from 4:30-6:30 pm - We’ll learn a provisional cast-on for your cowl and then walk over to Buck’s to toast the beginning of the NFL season. Here’s how you can participate.: • Call or stop by Mother of Purl to sign up and choose your team and yarn colors. • Then decide if you want the long or short version of the cowl (see below). • Purchase your Football Knit-a-Long Cowl Kit, made specifically for you, and get ready for the season to begin! Long Cowl – The striping sequence is determined by the order and amount of scored points in each game. You’ll knit-a-long with the scoring as it happens. If you’re a Patriots fan, your colors will blue and red. Let’s say you make the Patriots blue and all opponents red. Every time the Patriots score, you’ll knit however many rows as points scored (3 for a field goal, 6 for a TD, 1 for an extra point, etc.) in the blue. When the opponents score, you will knit however many rounds as points scored in the red. At the end of the game you purl 1 row in white to divide between games. Short cowl on left, long cowl with white You’ll do this every week for the whole season and you’ll end up with a record of the dividing rows on right. season. A great gift for any football fan! Short Cowl – Like the Long Version, you’ll knit the colors as the scoring happens. In this case you will knit 2 rounds for every touchdown scored, 2 rounds for every field goal scored in the order that the scoring happens. That’s what gives you a random pattern for the cowl.
