FALL/WINTER 2014/15 Class Schedule
The fall and winter class schedule includes projects for knitters of all levels and new learn to crochet classes. In addition to our class offerings we are launching our “Custom Fit” Sweater classes. We will hold 2 “Kick OFF Informational Meetings” in September (9/18 & 9/21) to learn about the “Custom Fit System.” Fall in love with sweaters again and learn about stress free knitting so that you can ACTUALLY WEAR the sweaters you knit BECAUSE you know they FIT. You choose the yarn and check your gauge, WE measure and help you design the PERFECT Sweater. We have great events scheduled this fall. Yarn Tasting: We will kick off Fall with our Annual Fall Yarn Tasting on Friday, October 3. Join us for food, fun, prizes and great specials on
our Fall Focus Projects. Shibui Knits: We will host 2 Shibui Knits Yarn Tastings on Friday, October 17. One in the afternoon and one in the evening. We will have guests from Shibui Knits, lots of samples, door prizes and new yarn. Workshop: Jane Slicer-Smith is returning to our shop for 2 days and great workshops. Jane will teach two texture classes on Saturday, October 18 [Cables & Zig Zags AND Traveling Textures with Bobbles and Bells]. On Sunday, October 19, Jane will teach a Fingerless Mitts class using mitres and the Color Trims with Intarsia and Fair Isle. Retreat: Our annual fall retreat @ Grandview Lodge is scheduled for November 7, 8 & 9. A fabulous weekend of knitting and fun. Special events in November include Giftables on November 2 & Winter Warmers on November 16. This is your chance to be inspired by samples and be ready for Holiday Gift Giving. There is always a lot happening at the shop. New yarns and samples each week. Join us any day for inspiration.

Which Level Are You?
Beginner: Projects for first-timers using basic stitches, such as cast on, knit, and cast off. Easy: You know the basics about knit and purl stitches but you feel that you need help with most of the other stuff because you’re still a fairly new knitter. Easy Plus: You know how to cast on, knit, purl, can do a simple increase and a simple decrease, and bind off. Intermediate: You can do all the beginner stuff, and know that there is more than just one way of making an increase and decrease and are ready to try something new.
Class Materials
The cost noted for each class is for instruction. Yarn and pattern or book are in addition to the class fee. Any exceptions are noted in class descriptions. Yarn for class must be purchased at Amazing Threads prior to the beginning of each class. Receive 10% off your yarn purchased for classes.
Refund Policy
Amazing Threads reserves the right to cancel a class one week prior to the start date of the class. Class fees will be refunded to the customer. Cancellation by students must be made at least two weeks prior to the start date in order to receive a full refund. After that date fees are not refundable or transferable.
Return Policy
Returns within 14 days of purchase will be refunded by type of sale. Returns are accepted on non-sale, unused yarns within 60 days of receipt date for even exchanges or store credit. We reserve the right to refuse return of goods that are damaged, worn, opened, or smell of smoke. Wound yarn is not returnable. Itemized receipt is required! No refunds on needles, patterns or books.

SOCIAL FIBER GROUPS & Help Table If you love to work with yarn to create things and want to meet people with the same interests, these social groups are for you. Each group charges a $5 fee that is applied to a purchase of $20 or more on the date of attendance. Attendance is free to Knit Club Members (KCM). These social fiber groups are supported with staff that can assist with simple knit or crochet questions. SSK (Sit, Sip & Knit)
Knit Night
Each Tuesday morning a group of knitters and crocheters gather. Bring your lunch and a favorite stitching project and join the group.

Knit-Along Our first for fall 2014 is a Mystery Shawl. We are using a previously released pattern that will be handed out in 4 clues. A great project for advanced beginners and intermediate knitters. 1 clue per week for 4 weeks. This project is a three color shawl. We recommend that you use solid or semi solid colors as there is patterning that will be lost with heavily variegated yarns. Michelle, the Mystery Shawl KAL leader, used a sport weight for the shop sample, but a fingering weight yarn will also work. Skills needed: Working flat, yarn over increases, decreases, picking up sts, binding off & blocking. Both chart and written instructions are included. KALs are not run by an instructor. The KAL leader facilitates the group as they meet for the knit-alon. Participants must have the skills noted. Sundays, September 14, 21, 28 &October 5

Correcting Mistakes
You’ve finished knitting the pieces of a beautiful project and it’s time to stitch it together. Which seaming techniques should you use? In this workshop, you’ll learn several seaming techniques and when to use them. Supplies: darning needle, extra yarn, US H crochet hook, extra knitting needle in same size as you are using on your squares. Homework: Knit and bind off, eight-4” squares as follows: 2 in garter stitch, 4 in stockinette stitch, 2 in whatever pattern you like, but do NOT bind off these 2 squares. Leave them on the needles with yarn attached.
Things happen while knitting that we didn’t want or expect. Stitches fall off the needle and drop down a few rows, stitches get twisted, just to name a few. This class will focus on a number of the most common errors that occur and teach you how to fix them to make your finished project beautiful. Supplies needed: Crochet hook, darning needle, a few feet of lighter weight yarn. Homework: Knit a 6” square in stockinette stitch and leave it on the needles with yarn attached.

Toe Up Socks
Spending hours searching for the perfect hat pattern can be such a drag. You always find bits and pieces you like, but never all in one pattern. Take that idea to the next level and learn the basics of designing your own perfect hat! In this class we will learn all of the techniques necessary to construct a worsted weight hat including fit, patterning, and crown shaping.
Toe up socks are “one step ahead” of the cuff down method. By knitting toe up, you can try on your sock as you knit to ensure the perfect fit for your footsies!
