Costa Rica—Registro Civil, Índices de nacimientos y defunciones, 1860–1975

This project is set at one image per batch, and each image is set at 60 records or entry lines. If an image has fewer than 60 records, index all the records, and then mark the remaining entry lines as blank (Ctrl+B). If an image has more than 60 records, add entry lines as needed by changing the number in the Number of records box. (Click Tools, and then Records per Image.) If you have added more entry lines than you need, delete the extra ones by clicking the Delete the selected record icon.

Things to Remember

Years are often given as twodigit numbers. The year should be indexed as it was recorded. In this example, the year would be indexed as 09.

This project has two fields for surnames—one for the first surname and one for the second surname.

Do not index leading (or initial) zeros in any of the fields. If a page number was recorded in the top (or bottom) corner of the document, do not index it.
