Farm Fresh Baby Quilt Finished Quilt Size - 36”x42”

Finished Quilt Size – 36”x42” Materials Required: 2 Charm Packs

Solid Fabric – 1/2 yd of fabric Middle Strip – 1/2 yd of fabric Outside Border – 1/4 yd of dark fabric 1/4 yd of light fabric Binding – 1/3 yd Backing – 1 1/4 yd Step 1 – go through your 2 charm packs and pick out squares for your star blocks… each Star Block will use 3 light charm squares, 2 dark squares and 2 medium squares. you will be creating a total of 8 star blocks. Step 2 – Cut the Charm Packs… 3 light charm squares – cut four 2” x 2” squares, cut four 2” x 3.5” rectangles 2 dark charm squares – cut two 2-3/8” x 2-3/8” squares, cut four 2”x2” squares 2 medium squares – cut two 2-3/8” x 2-3/8” squares, cut four 2”x2” squares Step 3 – Create the small pinwheel block that go inside the star block. use the Charm Pack pieces that you cut in Step 2. put one 2-3/8” x 2-3/8” dark brown square to one 2-3/8” x 2-3/8” medium square. right sides together. draw line pencil line from corner to corner on back of one side of square. sew a 1/4 inch seam on both sides of that drawn line. cut on the drawn line after sewing on each side.

open up the squares and arrange them in a pinwheel design for the middle arrangement of each star block.

it is important to iron all the seams open for the pinwheel block.

Step 4 – Create the flying geese for the outer rows of your quilt block. you will need the light 2” x 2-3/8” rectangles. sew a 2” x 2” square on top of one corner of the 2” x 2-3/8” rectangle. iron open to make a rectangle. sew a 2” x 2” square on top of the other corner of the 2” x 2-3/8” rectangle. creating the top row. creating the pinwheel row (has a pinwheel with the 2” x 2-3/8” rectangle on both sides). create the bottom row just like the top row. sew the block together as shown as below.

Step 5 - cut from your solid fabric – 6 – 2.5”x6” rectangles. sew the 4 star blocks together with a 2.5”x6” strips between the blocks. a total of 3 solid 2.5”x6” strips and 4 star blocks.

create 2 of these star block rows. Step 6 – Create the top and bottom border that goes on the star block row. shown below. sew 7 charm squares together. create 3 rows of 7 charm squares sewn together. cut the rows in half to than create a total of 6 rows. you will create 2 rows like the row shown below.

Step 7 – create the middle section of your quilt. cut one strip of fabric 10”x42”. you will sew 2 of the 7 charm pack rows (that you cut in half) to the top and bottom of the 10”x42” strip.

Step 8 – Cut 4 - 3”x 42”strips of the solid. sew the solid strip to the top and bottom of both of the star rows you created.

Step 9 – Sew the Quilt middle together like the picture shown below. the star rows should go on the top and bottom of the middle row.

Step 10 – create the border. cut 2 strips of fabric that are 5” x WOF. cut 1 of one fabric and 1 of a different color. (i cut 1 red and 1 white) cut these strips into 3”x5” rectangles. cut the rectangles from corner to corner to create triangles.

sew the triangles back together in the shape of a rectangle but with 2 different colors.

sew the rectangles together in the design shown below.

sew the strips to the sides of the quilt.

Step 11 – create the top and bottom border. the top and bottom border start with strips that are cut 3”x WOF. follow the same steps listed in previous step to create the top and bottom border. Sew the top and bottom border strips on to the quilt top. YOUR QUILT IS COMPLETE! ENJOY! Thanks for Sewing with ME.
