BARRHEAD NEWS TO AND FROM THE CONGREGATION We welcome back into our midst our brother Ryan Mul who has recently returned to Barrhead after a few months of time spent in Smithers, BC. Ryan, may the Lord bless you and make you a blessing here among us! Today our brother Louis Dykstra may celebrate his 86th birthday, the Lord willing. Although our brother’s health is not what is used to be, yet we are thankful with him for all that the Lord continues to provide him. We are thankful that since the new church building could be completed our brother has also been able again to worship with God’s people on a regular basis. May the Lord continue to grant all that is necessary in the year to come! Last week a certain young member in the congregation informed me of a small inconsistency (my word, not his) which many of us make when it comes to our singing of the Apostles’ Creed in Hymn 1. Since it is something I’ve noticed as well, I promised him I would relay the message to the congregation. Callum Harsevoort made the acute observation that while the wording of Hymn 1 states: “from there he shall come to judge the living and the dead,” many make the mistake (or better put: “fall into the old habit’) of singing “from thence he shall come…” Our young brother has flagged a change adopted at our most recent General Synod (Carman 2013) to update an archaism into present-day parlance. The take-home from this is to perform a quick diagnosis on yourself: is your singing up-to-date or out-of-date? Today we have Rev. Aasman from the Edmonton-Providence CanRC leading the worship services. We welcome him into our midst today and are thankful for his service from the pulpit. CVL

NEERLANDIA NEWS FOR AND FROM THE FLOCK We have had another beautiful week in February and it is still looking good for the next week. We see the Lords hand in all of creation, how He molded and fashioned it. What an awesome God and Father we have. We welcome Kevin and Sherry VanGrootheest and their two children, Keira and Ian into our midst from Barrhead. We wish you the Lord’s blessing in our congregation and, being no stranger here, we hope you will feel at home in Neerlandia soon. th We remember our sister Immy Kos as she will celebrate her 85 birthday next Sunday, March 6. We depend on our Lord, also when covenant children struggle with difficulties that come with advanced years. We pray for the family and the care givers, as they take care of her, and may the Lord grant her and the family what they need. We also hope to witness the baptism of Colin Reid, the son of Nathan and Nicole VanAssen, this afternoon. May the Lord grant you His wisdom and strength in bringing up also this child in the fear of His Name. May we all have a blessed Sunday and may we be strengthened through the preaching of His Word. We welcome Rev. Pontier and Rev. Tiggelaar on our pulpit. AV.
