Jesus often taught his disciples using parables, relating the spiritual to the physical to make the greater spiritual ideas easier for them to understand. But the Lord also taught others through actions. He proved himself to be the Savior spoken of by the prophets of old with miraculous feats. I would like to focus in on one such event now. When Christ walked on the water, he proved himself to be higher than the mortal, material world. But he also demonstrated one other thing that hour. The power of faith. When Peter stepped out of the boat onto that stormy lake, he trusted in God and Jesus. His feet didn’t sink until the moment that he let his fear take over. When he began to sink into doubt, he also began to sink into the waters. I feel that we tend to look at life as unpredictable as a stormy sea, with the story of Jonah in mind. We think that if we follow God’s instructions to the letter, then the storm will subside. Instead, we should keep Peter’s walk on the water with Jesus in our hearts, because we can learn a very important lesson from the apostle’s experience. That lesson is if we have faith in the Lord, then we have no need to fear the storm, but if we do falter and doubt, then Jesus will help us get back to safety. By Kyle Stephenson Welcome Visitors

Mt. Dora Food Drive Mt. Dora Children’s Home’s Annual October Food & Supply Drive has begun. We can make a difference in the lives of children and families who so desperately need our help. Please take a list of items needed from one of the foyer tables and purchase some of those items when you do your weekly shopping. Donated supplies should be placed under the kitchen counters for pick-up the week of November 10th. Walmart and Sam's gift cards are also helpful for purchasing perishable items such as meat, produce and diary products. Thank you for your support and generosity.
