Summer Program PVBC STUDENT MINISTRY
A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR MAY 2017
We at Pleasant View Baptist Church desire to minister the Word of God to the youth and children of families in our congregation, as well as to those whose families may not be members. We desire to point people of all ages to Jesus. Believing that the Bible emphasizes the importance of fellowship and the study of the Word of God, we seek to maintain a proper balance between these two as we mix fun with Bible study. We believe that the youth and children who participate in the events scheduled for this summer will not only grow spiritually, but will have fun while doing so. Please make plans to participate.

Sundays SUNDAY SCHOOL/BIBLIE STUDY
In conjunction with the new service schedule, Sunday School will be held in the youth room at 9:30am every Sunday morning. During this time, students will be walking through a study entitled, "Discipleship: The Growing Christian's Lifestyle." Over the course of twelve sessions, this study offers new discoveries from Scripture that will help students live out God's call to follow Him.
On Sunday evenings at 6:30pm, we will begin a Bible study for students that walks through the book of Exodus, examining the life and ministry of Moses. All students are welcome and encouraged to attend!
"Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it." Matt. 16:24-25 (ESV)
Tuesdays BOWLING/FIG'S
Each Tuesday (unless noted) the youth will be having a time of devotion and prayer followed by a time of fellowship. This time of fellowship will either consist of breakfast and bowling or lunch and ice cream at Fig’s Beanery and Creamery Cafe. This time is designed for the students to share what God is doing in their lives and also a time for us to pray for the needs of others. As a part of this gathering, we will also review some of the keys aspects of prayer. Through this, we hope to learn how God is faithful to listen to the prayers of his children and rejoice together as God answers our prayers according to his will.

Wednesdays "JUST FOR STARTERS" STUDY
Starting May 31, our youth program will be moving to a 1-hour schedule. Instead of meeting from 6pm-8pm, students will meet from 7pm-8pm.
During this time, we will be walking through a study entitled, "Just for Starters." This study looks at what the Bible teaches on seven fundamental topics of the gospel: saved by God, trusting in God, living God's way, listening to God, talking to God, meeting with God's family, and meeting the world. Through this study, we hope that the students will gain a deeper understanding of scripture and of the salvation accomplished by Christ in the gospel.
"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (ESV)
Fridays FANTASTIC ACTIVITIES
Each Friday, there will be an opportunity to join together in social and recreational events to kick back and have some fun! These activities will include movie & popcorn nights, a day of tubing in Helen GA, an evening of water games, a visit to 7th Inning Splash Water Park, and a Visit to Frankie's Fun Park. Below, the tentative Friday calendar is listed.

Summer Camp SUMMERSALT
Our students will be attending SummerSalt Camp Monday, June 12 thru Friday, June 16. The camp is held at White Oak Conference Center in Winnsboro, SC. Unfortunately, the registration deadline has already passed. However, if you are new and interested in attending, please contact Ben Ridgeway by email ([email protected]) or phone (864-981-9947) to see if any spots have opened up. SummerSalt is a high-energy summer youth camp run by the Generations Group of the South Carolina Baptist Convention. It is a camp that is designed to grasp and captivate the next generation with the Gospel. We are looking forward to a week where students and chaperones can get away from their typical schedules to have fun and focus their attention on God.
