Case Overview: Throughout the summer, we are working to solve a case. In a case, the evidence is very important. We want to only depend on what is reliable and trustworthy. The Bible is our main source of evidence, so how do we know if it is trustworthy? We know that “all scripture is Godbreathed…” and inspired by God. He inspired prophets to write His story. Archaeology supports that the Bible is historically accurate. And although the Bible is thousands of years old, the translations are pure when compared to ancient copies. For these three reasons: God wrote it, It is historically accurate and it is pure in translation, we can say our main source of evidence is trustworthy. SMALL GROUP OPENING ACTIVITY Mentor Directions: You will read ALOUD the text in red and NOTE the text in black. Welcome to summer! We have a wonderful mission ahead. I am so glad you have joined me today. I am __________, and I will be your lead detective today. • Who knows what a detective does? mystery) • Have you ever solved a mystery? ( lost shoes, lost keys) • What did you have to do to solve your mystery? (Look for clues that guide you to an answer) • wanted to be a detective? What kind of tools do you think a detective needs? (magnifying glass, notebook, etc.) top secret mystery we are going to solve this summer is to make sure you are authorized detectives.

ANALYZE THE EVIDENCE
Open the evidence envelope. Let’s review the evidence we talked about in our large group debrief. • What proof do we have that the Bible is trustworthy? 1. God wrote it. Someone tell me in your own words what this means. Pull exhibit 1 out of the envelope 2. The translation is accurate because God wrote it Someone tell me in your own words what this means. Pull exhibit 2 out of the envelope 3. Archeology proves it because God wrote it Someone tell me in your own words what this means. (Let kids share) Let’s investigate this point further. History supports the Bible. Nothing has ever been found that goes against what the Bible says. Why don’t we do a little digging of our own. Open sand tray and give a child a brush.

Then Ask: Have you heard this story before? Do you think it is true? I have evidence that this really happened. Who wants to see it? Hold up the photo evidence that matches the letter on the uncovered reference (A, B, or process with all three scriptures and pictures. . Ask: What does this evidence show us? (This evidence shows us that archaeology supports that the Bible is trustworthy.)

THE CASE DEBRIEF We have seen lots of evidence today. Let’s think together to solve this case. • What was our case question? How do we know if the Bible is trustworthy? We learned that 1. God wrote it, 2. The translations are accurate and 3. Archaeology supports it. • So, based on our evidence today, how would you solve our case? (The Bible is trustworthy because God wrote it!) Each week I’ll ask you: Is our case solved? We can answer together: Case Solved!
