Case Overview: Jesus sent the Holy Spirit when He ascended, and our Holy Helper is at work! We can see evidence of Holy Spirit’s work in all areas of our lives, in our city, our state, our country, our world and our solar system.

SMALL GROUP WELCOME Mentor Directions: You will read ALOUD the text in red and NOTE the text in black. Good morning detectives. I’m __ and I’ll be your lead detective today. Let’s look through our case folders to review our cases so far. you review. Allow kids to discuss what they remember from these previous weeks.
Let’s play a memory game to review our cases. Spread the cards face down on the rug in the center of your circle. cards back over where they were. Let’s take turns and see if we can solve all the cases we have covered so far. Spend about 5 minutes on this and then move on to the activity. If your parents were preparing to go on a trip, how would they take care of you even when they’re gone? Let kids give answers. I want you to pretend that you are your parents and that you’re going away. Because you love your kids, you want to make sure they’re well taken care of. Give the kids a babysitter memo. Fill out this sheet for the babysitter taking care of your kids while you’re gone. Remember you are pretending to be your parents writing this note for someone to take care of their kids - you! I want you to answer in a like they would!

If you would like, take time to tell how you have experienced the Holy Spirit lead, teach, give joy or comfort you. We are going to investigate our evidence now. Open your evidence folder. This is called “zoom”. I have pictures here of 9 places where the Holy Helper is at work. I want you to work together to put them in order. Have the kids have put the pictures in order. Solar System, Earth, Northern Hemisphere, America, South Carolina, Greenville, Neighborhood, House, Me About each picture, ask: How do you think the Holy Spirit is a helper in this place.

THE CASE DEBRIEF There were many eyewitnesses who actually saw Jesus and spent time with him. Let’s review who these were. Who can remember who saw Jesus? Mary and Mary, Cleopas and his friend, the disciples. They had been with him before he died, and they spent time with him after he rose. They knew him and knew that he was real. They ate with him, talked with him, and spent time with him. Just like Nosy Nancy said, they knew he was the real deal. After analyzing all of our evidence this week, do you think we can solve our case, “How do we know Jesus rose from the dead?” Based on our evidence, we can say “We know Jesus rose from the dead because many people spent time with him after he rose!” Would you say our case is solved? Yes! Let’s say it together! CASE SOLVED! Take time to ask for prayer requests in your group and pray together.
