John 16.33 As Jesus faced the Cross, His final words to His disciples remind us regardless of what we are facing in this moment, our hope is based in the One who has overcome the troubles of this world, and invites us to “take heart.” Peace and joy are present in the life of a disciple, but they must be seen alongside the conflict, and the struggle the world brings. God’s promise for us is not a life free of struggle. The promise is He is present with us in the struggle, and His presence is enough to see us through it. When we base our purpose in His promise we are free to live and flourish in His peace.

What is Jesus calling you to do? What action are you going to take to fulfill the call? Do you know your purpose? Are you fulfilling it? Believing it? Pursuing it? Are you flourishing? What is holding you back today?

If we believe God is great, and if we believe His Spirit dwells inside of us, then we must believe His greatness is also in us. And if His greatness is in us, then we must also believe we carry the potential to be great. Not because of what we have done, but because of what He did. May the LORD cause us to flourish. May we know Jesus has called us to His purposes in a world flooded with struggle. May our roots reach deep into the space God has given us to live and breathe; the space He has planted us. And may we tell the world the greatness of our God.
