Coloring:
You can choose to color your Colorin' Quilts Hexies before or after they're sewn. Here are the advantages to each:
• P re-coloring isolates the color. It also allows you to color beyond the stitch line assuring no white shows along seams. • Sew it first, then give as a gift to let them enjoy the coloring process. It's great for those non-sewers!

• S tack three hexie fabrics under the center Colorin' Quilt hexie. • Trim along the dashed line around all 6 sides using a ruler for straight cuts. (all 4 layers) • Trim the other 3 hexies along the dashed line • Arrange the hexies as shown.

Assembly Topper:
Note: Although instructions show a sewing machine method, English paper piecing method is another option.
start sewing
• L ayer the center hexie with the first regular fabric hexie, right sides together. • You will be able to see the printed stitching line on the center hexie through the fabric. Mark the end points on the wrong side of the center hexie. • Sew along the stitching line. Stay just to the inside of the line so it will be hidden in the seam allowance.

• O pen the first pair. • Place the next colorin' hexie onto the center with right sides facing. • Sew along the stich line.

When two hexies are sewn to the center hexie, now sew those together. • Fold the center hexie in half and layer the two outside hexies, right sides together. • Sew along the stitching line, extending all the way to the edge. • Continue adding hexies in this manner around the center. • Iron center seams toward the outside. Open the outside seams for a nice flat topper. • Pillow case to finish your topper. (see next page for instructions) • Topstitch trim to the outside edge for a little fun. • Quilt as desired. Enjoy!

Flower Garden Coasters Cutting:
• T rim each strip, on one side, using the 30/60 line on your straight ruler. The angle matches the angle of the hexie.
30/60 degree line
Assembly
• P lace the first strip onto the center hexie, right sides together. • Sew from point 1 to edge along the seam line on your Colorin' Quilts Hexie. (Only on the first side) • Open. • Layer on the next strip. • Sew along the seam line (¼" seam allowance). • Repeat for all six strips.

• Fold back the first strip • Sew to the edge. • Open. • Iron seam allowance away from the center. • Finish using the pillow case method below. • Trim off excess to make a hexagon. • Add trim (optional). • Quilt as desired. Enjoy! Pillow Case Method • Layer the batting, backing (right side up), then pieced top (right side down). • Pin the layers together. • Sew around the perimeter, leaving a place for turning. • Trim away the excess backing and batting. • Clip at the inside corners. • Now turn the piece inside out and hand. • Stitch the opening closed.
