The tablet-sized Focus Bowtie is an easy to read pattern for focusing a lens. It is useful for setting back focus on a zoom lens, checking focus marks on a prime lens, or finding focus on any lens in any situation. With the chart in frame, as you turn the focus barrel on the lens and reach the point of optimum focus, the image will “pop,” with the circular patterns becoming more defined. You’ll see greater detail, and the image will be sharper and have higher contrast. When the lens is optimally focused, you will see high contrast in the coarser patterns, and maximum detail in the finer patterns. Also, the image as a whole will show a minimum of chromatic artifacts, which are seen as colored
fringes on the edges of black lines. The band of colors under the focus pattern can be a handy reference for color matching between scenes or between cameras. The colors are designed to represent the 3 primary and 3 secondary colors, as well as flesh tones.
Insert Slate Use with dry erase marker only. Erase with a clean, dry cloth. If necessary, you may clean the slate with a damp cloth (water only).
Care & Maintenance To clean, gently wipe with a dry tissue or cloth dampened with water. Avoid scratching the surfaces, and store out of sunlight.
